Another great post from Healthy Workplace. Silence is agreement.
That was a great weekend!
Resilience, grit and follow-through have been big themes occupying huge spaces in the thinking, writing, and learning this week. Resilience at work is made possible when grit is celebrated, follow-through is expected (from ourselves and others - and accountability taken when expectations are not met.) And none of it is possible, at work or in life, without a healthy dose of kindness, starting with the mirror and extending to everyone with whom we contribute and learn.... https://positivepsychology.com/resilience-in-the-workplace/ See more

Going back to work? Been working throughout Covid? Today we're talking about Resilience: the set of learnable skills which reside in a zone of experience where we are best able to bounce forward. Resilience is dynamic rather than a a static end goa.... It is enhanced by a combination of hardiness (as a personality trait this looks like: taking control, having commitment and viewing challenges as opportunities) and grit (this is similar to the fighting spirit that helps us stick to a goal when the going gets rough.) If you care to learn more about resilience in the workplace, check out this month's free webinars from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. https://www.canadianbusinessresiliencenetwork.ca//upcomin/

What are you taking to work for LUNCH? What are you eating at home if you're workday is now virtual? As we practice healthy workplace routines during COVID-19, let's remember that we work best when we are INTENTIONALLY and MINDFULLY fuelled.

In 2020, maybe more than ever these 5 important rules for leadership and life are worth their weight: 1. Go for what you want, but don't keep others from getting what they want. 2. Know when you're the problem: practice accountability. 3. Befriend help: the giving of it and the accepting of it. 4. Be the last to speak.... 5. The trappings of achievement are for the achievement, not for you: we all drink from the same cup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZx4DTglHJc&feature=youtu.be See more
Another good share from Well-Advised Consulting!
Conversations. Healthy workplaces invite them. They "go there" in respectful open ways that allow perspectives to be heard and open minds to consider. Thank you to all the workplaces I have known who "go there" with compassion, grace, and humility.
Again, Deborah Connors shares a meaningful post for workplaces contemplating white privilege and allyship.
So many great things happen when we work together. As our workplaces shift and meet the guidelines of "re-opening" let's meet each day with resilience, compassion, kindness, and collaboration.
As many are returning or preparing for return to work, what do you think of this proposed 10-4 notion. Would 4 days in office followed by 10 days in isolation be something that could work for your team? Let me know below - would 10-4 be something you would entertain? What opportunities and challenges do you foresee for your workplace going forward?
As we head back to work and into workplaces in the days and weeks ahead let's remember health, wellness and safety: for workers, businesses, and customers/clients. Teams will be feeling increased stress and trepidation. Be prepared with supports and ways that employees can voice concerns. What's your workplace superpower? All of us have one. It's the way you show up at work that everyone seeks out. It's our sustenance and our strength.... Are you the initiator? The refiner? The instigator? The data queen? The promoter? The problem solver? The listener? For me...I'm the connector. Right now, in our novel approaches to work and contribution we are connecting in more sustainable and valuable ways. We are cultivating the relationships and goodwill that allow us to pivot and serve the world well. How could helping your team connect over common concerns and considerations support you and your business and ready it to flourish? Let's explore how nurturing connection now is crucial to our collective post-Covid success. Connection is Crucial. Your team is ready.

Sharing, as we lead, contribute, and play in new and old ways in the days ahead. Work well, my friends. Thanks for the post, Gillian Goerzen. A shift: There is so much fear, and perhaps rightfully so, about COVID-19.... And, what if... If we subscribe to the philosophy that life is always working out for us, that there is an intelligence far greater than humans at work... That all is interconnected. What if... The virus is here to help us? To reset. To remember. What is truly important. Reconnecting with family and community. Reducing travel so that the environment, the skies, the air, our lungs all get a break. Parts of China are seeing blue sky and clouds for the first time in forever with the factories being shut down. Working from home rather than commuting to work (less pollution, more personal time). (Getting the rare space to think about new avenues of work /creation if yours has been shut down). Reconnecting with family as there is more time at home. An invitation to turn inwards -- a deep meditation -- rather than the usual extroverted going out to self-soothe. To reconnect with self -- what is really important to me? A reset economically. How hard does one need to work to be able to live, to have a life outside of work? The presence of Grace for all. There is a shift underway in our society -- what if it is one that is favorable for us? What if this virus is an ally in our evolution? In our remembrance of what it means to be connected, humane, living a simpler life, to be less impactful/ more kind to our environment. An offering from my heart this morning. Offered as another perspective. Another way of relating to this virus, this unfolding, this evolution. It was time for a change, we all knew that. And, change has arrived. What if... - Gutpreet Gill

We're all in this together.

Values-based hiring. The right person for the right reason.

Tell the people who work with you to achieve success how much you appreciate them.
Sometimes when your workplace is a studio and your product is artful the value of your contribution can be lost on those who don't understand the hours, investment, craftsmanship and talent it takes to do what you do. Muskoka artists...your work and your contribution are greatly appreciated. https://www.facebook.com/297696413962519/posts/1033468670385286/
