Rimbey Junior Curling Program 03.02.2021

In light of the news yesterday, we will be holding off on starting the junior curling program tomorrow night. I will keep you posted in the weeks before Christmas to let you know if we will be able to start up after Christmas break. Stay safe and enjoy time with family. "I won't be able to tell you that everything is going to be the way we want it but I am here to embrace the "suckiness" with you.

OK young curlers, I think that we have figured out all of this crazy. Because of the rising numbers of COVID and the restriction in our area, I phoned AHS to get a bit of information. They gave us the go ahead and asked that we maintain some restriction in our own club to keep the numbers down. So, it has been decided that we will start curling on November 26th at 6:30pm. The cost for the curling season this year will be $80.00. I am asking that all juniors bring their ow...n water bottles that are clearly labeled with their names, every curler must have a mask and every curler will be assigned equipment if they do not already have their own. Each curler will be asked to sanitize their hands on the way onto the ice and then again leaving the ice. Rocks will be sanitized before curlers enter the ice. I am also asking that parents please clean their own space at the end of the night and stick to their family cohorts. If you are feeling sick or have symptoms, please do not attend curling. Please parents do not drop and run this year because if your children develop symptoms while at curling, they must leaving the curling rink immediately. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. (403) 588-3326. See more

YAH!!! Attention all 10 to 17 year olds. The board has made a decision, so we are moving forward with curling. It will look a little different but it will be a great way to get out and enjoy the sport. We will have an organizational meeting on November 12th at 6:30pm. At this meeting we will discuss what families are comfortable with as far as COVID goes in regards to rules and regulation on top of what we have been directed from Curl Canada and the Rimbey Curling Club Bo...ard. A waiver will need to be signed by a parent for each curler before they are allowed on the ice. We will talk about parent responsibilities, curler responsibilities and coach responsibilities. At this time, there are no junior bonspiels on the list as most clubs have decided to wait and see where the COVID train takes us. If you have any concerns or questions, please bring them to the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please let me know and I can have a zoom or google link set up. You can contact me on here or on my cell phone (403) 588-3326. We will be following AHS guidelines of social distancing for the meetings. Please sit in your family cohorts, use the hand sanitizer provided and masks will be recommended but not mandatory. If you are feeling ill, please stay home. If you were a curler last year, I have your end of the year gifts for those who I was unable to deliver to through the summer months. See you at the rink. See more

Hello everyone. I apologize for the delay in the start up of the Junior Program. I am awaiting the board to finalize the protocols. Once that has happened, then I can inform you and we can put them in place for the kids. I will post the suggested protocols on here when I get them as well as the waiver for parents to sign. I will call a meeting as soon as I have things clear with the board. Hang in there, I am hoping we are getting close to getting back on the ice.

Hello everyone. I would like to start by thanking everyone for their patience while we navigate through this crazy time. I just keep reminding myself we have never navigated through a pandemic before so we are on trial and error mode for now. I will be hosting a parent meeting at the curling rink in the coming weeks to give everyone the protocols of curling. I will be sending them to the board this week and then as soon as I hear they are good, I will select a date. I am so excited to get back on the ice with the kids this year. It may look a little different but we will still have a good time.

I will get all the kids merchandise to them the week of spring break. If you are not around, we will catch up soon. I am so honoured to have the opportunity to watch the kids improve their skills through the year. I am so proud of each and everyone of them and am excited for the future of Rimbey curling. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or text me. (403) 588-3326. Here are a few pictures from the year.

Thank you so much to all the sponsors, parents and curlers for making the weekend very successful. I believe that everyone had a great time and there were many smiling faces. There will be curling for the older group this week for those that can and want to make it. No worries if you are away enjoying a bit of a rest. We will catch those who are away next week. Please start thinking sizes and orders as I am going to start asking coat and other attire sizes this week. Thank you again for an amazing weekend and everyone’s hard work. So grateful to be part of an amazing junior program.

Another great weekend in Wetaskiwin curling. Great job ladies on bringing home some money. Boys fell short by a game but we have three weeks to get ourselves in shape for our small town junior bonspiel.

I am not sure I am cut out for this coaching thing. These kids continue to amaze me and have far passed my coaching knowledge. Now, I am officially there cheerleader and personal jester. There team play, hard work and ability to laugh in any situation makes them some of the most admired curlers in our small curling community. Other coaches often come up to me and let me know how much their curlers love to curl ours because they really show how much they love the game. Both teams finished second in their division and brought home some money for their efforts.

Wow, I am so proud of all the kids at the Bentley Bonspiel this weekend. They have improved so much and worked so hard. I am honoured that they allow me to be a kid with them. Thank you to Karen Jaffrey and her crew for the great organizing and the amazing parents for following the rules and not being to rowdy.

Hello all junior curlers 10 to 18. We will be heading up the junior curling year this coming Thursday, November 14. We will start at 6:00pm and run until 7:30pm. If you missed the earlier registration, feel free to join us now. Please all curlers have clean rubber sole shoes and we will have all other gear at the rink. For newer curling parents, please plan to stay at the rink the next couple of weeks as it takes the kids a bit to get their ice legs back. I can’t wait to get out on the ice. The place below is where I am leaving on Wednesday only because I get to get onto the ice on Thursday.
