2020 was quite the year for Ripple Effect... We held a fundraiser concert for our trip to Germany Jonah became a registered CPA! Rachel moved home and started a new job ... A global pandemic ensued Our trip to Germany was cancelled! Many months passed with no rehearsals Erin gave birth to Lilah! Rachel became an aunt for the first time! Robert became an uncle...again! We were nominated for 'Quartet of the Year' by the BHS We performed in a number of virtual concerts such as the MBHA International Showcase and the Camp Menesetung Fundraiser Concert We participated in and WON the web series 'Barbershop Royale'!! We raised 5K for Sing Canada Harmony We made friendships and connections with barbershoppers around the world to last A WHOLE LIFE LONG. Robert started a new job! We took steps to plan and prepare for an (upcoming) album! We were invited to be one of the featured acts at the Midwinter Virtual Convention starting in January! This year brought us many ups and downs; very deep dissappointments and very pure joys! And although there is much to celebrate, we are just as excited as everyone else to 'watch the old year DIE with a fond good-bye' and start the new year right! Like most other quartets, we didn't get a chance to perform live on any holiday shows this year. $5,000 for Sing Canada Harmony, four and a half months, three new music videos, two fallen eggs, and a dozen marshmallows later and we have finally come to the end of this wild journey known as Barbershop Royale. When Destination Quartet reached out to us back in July about the show, none of us could have predicted the experience we have had. What we thought would be the year we competed on the international stage at BinG 2020 ended up being the year we stayed home and won a...n international, online competition series instead! It’s been a stressful, nail-biting, hilarious, heartwarming time and we could not be more grateful to have been a part of it all. This show would not have been possible without the support of our friends, family, and fans who watched the show, voted, donated to Sing Canada Harmony, and helped make this show happen. Thank you to our partners, friends, and families for stepping in to film (and be filmed) and for putting up with us during the production process: Ilana Lazar, Billy Mahabir, Andy Dennett, Michael John Chadwick, Jeff, Elizabeth Thorpe-Hearn, Barbara, and Sam. Special thank you to Paul, Louise Dockstader, Gary Black, for making our finale vision a reality and helping us with the recording. You were so giving of your time and energy and we couldn’t be more grateful. Also shout out to the Ontario District - Barbershop Harmony Society who always have our backs and supported us since the beginning and especially during this show. To Destination Quartet - our new beautiful, lifelong friends. Thanks for bringing this thing to life and for always doing the best you could given your own hectic lives and newness to the process as well. You’ve made this year something special to us that we couldn’t have imagined! And to the rest of the competitors in the show (KARMA Quartett, Full Of It, Daily Special Quartet, Hot Second, Trademark Quartet, Taylor Made Quartet, C'est La Vie, The Aristocrats Quartet) We are so honoured to have shared the stage with such fun, fantastic people and we can’t wait to sing with you all in person.
