We would like you to meet our behind the scenes gal Randi. Randi has given her time to assist and teach us things we are less than savvy with such as navigating sites, social media and design work. It is wonderful to have her cheery, helpful disposition on our side.

An update on Jessica. Her dentist (who is not a tourist dentist) will not take responsibility nor compensate her in any way for the "treatment" he did. She needs to pay another $700.00(can) per tooth on her $800.00 (can) monthly salary. We want to do the root canals for her and we have a volunteer endodontist ready to do so. But...we need equipment/instrumentation and supplies. We are not asking for the newest and the top of the line. We are looking for supplies and instruments that will allow us to get the work done. So we are asking for the help of any dentists or endodontists or individuals willing to make a donation so we can purchase the supplies. Or if you have actual items to donate we can give you and American address to ship to.

We hear it is dental assistant week. So we are giving a shout out to Carmen our clinical support at Derksen Clinic in Puerto Vallarta. Carmen has a nursing background. She keeps the clinic running smoothly and efficiently. Her manner with patients is calm and reassuring. The clinic and patients are fortunate to have her. We are blessed to work with her.

Today we are happy to introduce you to one of the great families we get to take care of. Jackie, Jacob, Janet and Jonathan. Jonathans employer has recognized him as one of the top 5 bus drivers in Puerto Vallarta. Because Jonathon wants to learn to speak English, his employer will take care of his English classes. Now thats a win-win!

Meet Jessica. She works, owns a home and looks after her oral health. She represents many of the people we care for in the Laguna del Valle community of Puerto Vallarta. As some of you may see by the x-ray this is why we are happy to provide our services. Jessica had 3 root canals done by her local dentist (only 1 shown here). She saved her own money for a long time to get them done on her $800.00 (cdn) month salary. Each root canal cost her $210.00 (cdn) each. The same mol...ar on the other side was only just started and opened but not completed. Yet she was charged for the root canal for that other tooth. The third molar that she had the "root canal" done on we were unable to X-ray as the software/sensor stopped functioning. Your old equipment/instruments/supplies is our new. Any way you can help build better dental care in this community will be appreciated. See more

We are truly privileged to be able to call Puerto Vallarta home for 3 months over the winter (seriously we are from Winnipeg). Our choice is to give back while we are here. We are in awe of the gratitude and appreciation of the clients who attend the Derksen Clinic. The clinic operates on donations from the dental chair to toothbrushes. Any equipment you may be upgrading or donations you can offer are greatly appreciated.
