A Yellowstone Minute - This was an incredible moment. Watching and listening to this guy swim the Yellowstone River was fascinating. The minute he dropped into ...the water my heart sank and then hearing his deep breaths as he swam made the hair on my neck stand up. Simply incredible. Just a note, this was taken with a 500mm and has also been cropped during editing.

Since July is National Bison Month we though it was time for you to Know Your Bison. The genus Bison contains two species, the American Bison (Bison bison) and ...the European Bison (Bison bonasus). Sometimes these animals are incorrectly called Buffalo, but they are actually not related to African and Asian Buffalos and all are found in different genera. Bison were one of the megafaunas to survive the ice age, but as the country of the United States expanded westward in the 19th Century, the species was nearly wiped out and is a sad reminder of how quickly our species can change or even destroy an entire ecosystem.
