Just because today’s march is over, doesn’t mean we rest tomorrow. I urge fellow protestors to display their signs in their windows or mail them to local members of parliament and police stations to continue to spread the message. BLACK LIVES MATTER.

I just went down a racist rabbit hole of trump supporting, second amendment, pro lifer videos and comments. There’s an endless amount of worrying and anxiety inducing material online that is a product of some very problematic ways of thinking -and an alarming amount of it is coming from very young individuals. These individuals are on track to become the next world leaders, we must intervene NOW. It is our job as friends and family members to critically examine the xenophobi...a, homophobia, and sexism in our lives and educate people who continue to have a problem with the equality of all races, orientations, and sexes. It is extremely disturbing that there are currently people who are actively terrorizing poc and being insensitive to their suffering online and or course irl at this time. To find humour in and or to mock the death of another human being, at any age is unacceptable behaviour. The cruelty of laugh reacting to a post that is in support of the black lives matter movement is astonishing. It displays a lack of compassion, empathy, and simple tact and it is wildly concerning. I worry that these are learned behaviours from family members and it is of the upmost importance to rectify any actions that encourage this sort of treatment to fellow people. It’s time to unlearn any of your prejudices and become better people. People who do not laugh react at others pain. It simply isn’t enough for us to be non-racist anymore, we have to be ANTI-RACIST. It shouldn’t have to be said but being anti racist doesn’t exclude people of Asian heritage that have been targeted and bullied heavily since covid19 spread globally and it certainly doesn’t exclude our indigenous neighbours who’s land we currently occupy. I’m calling everyone out, your rude/racist/sexist/homophobic uncle, cousin, coworker, something you or I said ignorantly years/months/days ago.
