MASKNE We get a ton of questions about maskne. Why is it happening? How can we stop it? Truth is there can be many contributing factors to maskne. The main ones being irritation from friction, heat and humidity, and pores being physically blocked by dirt, oil and debris trapped within the mask. Not to mention, new everyday stresses can trigger new breakouts. So here are some useful tips!... Wear a clean mask DAILY. You should also be washing or sanitizing yourhands before putting on your mask as well as when you take it off. When using a cloth mask try finding a 100% cotton (or close to) so your skin can breath. This willhelp control the humidity and heat. If you use a disposablemask be sure you're using a fresh one. Also try to replace your masks if they become too damp or dirty. Avoid wearing makeup underneath. This will help the amount of dirt and oils under the mask. I'm quite guilty of this one. But if you are wearing makeup frequently, like I am, be sure to be more diligent monitoring your mask and be sure to cleanse properly at the end of the day. Try not to touch your spots! I KNOW this is a hard one. It's always so satisfying when you do but the more you mess with it the more likely you can cause hyperpigmentation and prolong the stay of that spot. You can also try a hydrocolloid patch to help draw fluid and protect those spots. I find they are also a helpful reminder to not touch my face. Treat yourself to a good routine. You may want to add a spot treatment to help inflammation or mask to help cleanse. There are many great ingredients like salicylic acid and azelaic acid to help combat maskne as well. Also remember acne is not the only by product of maskne. You can also develop rashes or sores so if you're having severe reactions be sure to chat with your doctor! Lest We Forget is a phrase we've heard in Canada over and over again. It's commonly used to remember the fallen soldiers from wars that happened years before myself and many people now were born. . Of course we shouldn't forget the fallen but we should also be using this day to remember the survivors who suffered. Veterans who suffered from PTSD. The high veteran suicide rates that still occur today. The Indigenous and black soldiers who fought equally but then were discarde...d once the wars ended. . Saying war is terrible seems like a form of lip service and cliche coming from me. I'm fortunate enough to not have experienced losing a loved one to war, fighting a war, or living in a war zone. Let's chat about EXFOLIANTS! we get lots of questions about the different exfoliants we carry so we thought we'd try and simplify it! The goal of both is to remove those dead skin cells and to give you a smoother textured surface to work with. *You don't want to waste all your product on dead skin! * The two types just work differently. Physical exfoliants scrub the surface of the skin with small particles to help release dead skin. So when you rinse you'll notice imm...ediate results. You have to be a little more gentle with these scrubs but they're still safe and can be great! Particles vary across the store. A few examples are bamboo seeds, lava particles, rice powder, and jojoba beads. We make sure none of our products carry plastic microbeads. Chemical exfoliants work by loosening the glue that holds onto those dead skin cells. They're great for oily or acne prone skin types. They can help with cell turnover but also help fade dark spots and reduce fine lines. Types of chemical exfoliants like AHAs work on the surface of your skin while BHAs are able to penetrate a little deeper. Fruit enzymes are better for more sensitive skin types This is a lot of information so feel free to come in and ask questions! See more

I get questions all the time about this so let's talk about ARMPIT DETOX I get a lot of people coming in saying they're finally ready to make THE SWITCH. They want to replace a drugstore item with a natural, sustainable product. And for most people it's switching from an antiperspirant or aluminum deodorant to a natural product that is the most difficult. The detox period after switching to a natural deodorant can be a huge pain. I usually tell people it might get wors...e before it gets better. Aluminum deodorants block pores and sweat so switching causes those pores to open up and breathe again. This is why so many people say natural deodorants don't work for them.
