When the pandemic first hit and we were transitioned to working remotely back in March of this year, the rise in video calls and Zoom meetings became the new thing, and soon became the norm. Lately though, surveys and studies have found that many professionals are experiencing video call fatigue and that the novelty has worn off and is almost being seen as an intrusion into their personal lives. With schools now back in full force, you maybe wondering what this could mean for you as a parent, an employee and an employer. What happens if your child's school has an outbreak and they're forced to close? Are you familiar with your sick time and sick leave polices at work? Is there a plan in place for these types of situations? Every employee in Alberta is entitled to 14 days of unpaid job protected leave if they have to isolate due to Covid-19. In recent news, Ottawa introduced a new $500 weekly benefit for up to 2 weeks for employees who don't have paid sick leave and are forced to isolate.
