What a delightful time we had together in the "With Friends This Sunday" group tonight. Jo, Betsy, Lorie and I shared some of things going on in our lives and we spent time discussing how we learn to stay in that place of responding in love even when we feel attacked. In that conversation I shared about my favourite hero, Etty Hillesum. Her journey as a Polish Jew in the 1930's inspires and challenges me. The book about her is a compilation of her journals and letters crea...ted by friends who loved her. It is called "An Interupted Life and Letters from Westerbork. The New York Times celebrates it as "Unsurpassed in Holocaust Literature." We also spent some time discussing the spirtual practice of the "Lectio Divinas which is a way of embracing a scripture, poem or proverb. It involves meditating, repetition and prayer. I am for certain a dreamer. I dream of a world where people love one another and work together for good. I dream of a world where families love one another rather than plotting for position and inheritance, where they love their living parents rather than waiting for their parents to die. I dream of a world were everyone is aware of and embraces the love and forgiveness of the Divine. Are we who dream dangerous or are we rather endangered?
