Hey, Lettuce Explain! We had plans for 2020, then COVID-19 came. In April, we made the decision not to operate for the 2020 season. You see, our plan, was to focus on larger events for the community - every 2-3 weeks (Beers n Band, Kids Fest, Art in the Park, and a Car Show!). I feel like this still is not a realistic option - even with restrictions lifting. ... Don't worry though - there is always ways to source local food! Our neighbours to the south will be operating - Sparwood Market! Fernie Mountain Market has also launched online and I believe they will operate as well. And who knows we may still get fresh produce weekly in our community (we did before the market began!). Apologies, for taking so long to share this, sometimes it's bittersweet to share news - especially when you've spent the last 4 years dedicated to it!

Can we give a HUGE thank you to these vendors?! These beautiful ladies are the vendors that showed up every week with the markets ups and downs! I respect their dedication!! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the market this year too - I know the location change wasn’t loved by all. ... I’m also just going to throw it out there - if anyone would like to take over the market next year please reach out to me!! I’m not 100% sure I’m capable of doing it next year - with working full-time and having three little girls who need me too!

Will you be at the... 2019 Show & almost Shine Car Show in Elkford?! Where: the parking lot in front of the pool ... When: during the Farmer’s Market on August 28th, 2019, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM. No entry fee, just bring your pride and joy, a chair, and a desire to meet and greet other locals and to share your vehicle with the people of Elkford. Big shout out to the local business donating prizes and supporting this event that Steve Fairbairn has brought to life! This program is funded from Columbia Basin Trust and the Ministry of Health through the BC Farmers Markets and serves low income individuals, families, and seniors. Participants receive a book of coupons each week worth $21 over the 10 week Farmers Market Season. Coupons are redeemable at Mountain Market in Fernie and River View Farmers Market in Elkford. We were excited... to extend this into the catering at our community bbq in Fernie last week. We worked with The Bridge Bistro to feature as many local food vendors as possible. The result was a fresh, local and delicious meal featuring ingredients from a long list of our neighbours around the region.
