Fires in high-rise buildings create special challenges requiring considerably more firefighters and resources. With the large number of high-rises being built, adequate equipment and staffing is crucial in public and firefighter safety. #MonctonFFs

Congratulations to brother Rob Roy on this milestone in his career!
It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of Deputy Chief Mitch Short. Mitch joined our local in 1990 and served with dignity and pride up until 2014 when he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief of fire prevention. DC Short dedicated 30 years to serving the community and he did it with incredible professionalism. He will be incredibly missed, and ... We are all better for having known him. Our local and organization would like to thank the hundreds of messages we have received over the last few days of support from departments all over the maritimes.

This morning crews were dispatched to a structure fire in our hydrant area, our first due engine company reported smoke showing and aggressively stretched hand lines and forced entry into the residence. Crews found the seat of the fire shortly after making entry and quickly extinguished it. Searches were negative and no injuries were reported. Thanks to code 3 media for the video
Tragic news out of Montreal this morning. Thoughts go out to all of those involved and the family. RIP brother
It's easy to forget the tragic events that happened on this day 19 years ago but let's make sure we don't forget the sacrifices of the firefighters , paramedics , police officers and civilians.
Our brothers and sisters in Moncton working hard and getting it done yesterday!
This morning Local 2549 took possession of our new kitchen table. Thank you to Paul at Talk About Furniture in Riverview for building us an amazing table. Also, thank you to Futura Signs in Riverview for creating the decals. Two great local businesses.
Each year our apparatus go through a thorough pump test to ensure it is in good working order. While we do daily checks on our rigs to ensure operational readiness , annual pump testing allows the truck to be put under a microscope to ensure there are no slowly leaking valves or damage done to the sealed pump unit.
Take a look at our new rescue boat ! Crews will be familiarizing themselves with it and practicing before placing it in active service
