FIRE AWARENESS UPDATE The Government of Saskatchewan has lifted the fire ban on crown land.

RM of Martin #122 09.10.2019

Fire Awareness Saskatchewan is experiencing severely dry conditions throughout much of the province. These conditions increase the potential risk of fires. On August 31, 2017 an open fire ban was expanded for Crown land and provincial parks, south of the Churchill River. Several municipalities in the province have also put their own bans in place. At this time the RM of Martin does not have a fire ban but if you have Crown land there is a fire ban on those properties... A recent grass fire near Glentworth and northern wildfires reinforces the need for diligence by people living, working or enjoying recreational activities across Saskatchewan during these dry conditions. With harvest finished and hunting season underway, farmers and hunters are reminded to take extra precautions. Carry a fire extinguisher, shovel or other tools in your vehicle. Walk whenever possible. Avoid unnecessary vehicle idling. Mufflers and other parts can get hot enough to start a fire. Keep your vehicle out of tall grass stick to roads and trails. When setting up your camp, pick an area free of tall grass. Hunters are reminded to get landowner permission accessing private land.

DRAINAGE Just a friendly reminder that ALL drainage works need the approval of the Water Security Agency. Visit the Water Security Agency website at www.wsask.ca for the forms that you will need to complete. You may also call the Weyburn office at 306-848-2345 for more information. Water Security will want to see that you have the permission from your neighbours if you are draining onto their property (and that includes the Municipality). Also - the RM of Martin No 122 do...es not accept the unauthorized removal of bush by equipment or fire; drainage; trenching; cutting of roadways; fencing; placement or burial of rocks; disposal of metal, wood, shingles or household waste on municipal: road allowances; right of way; ditches; or property. A written request for work occurring in the municipal: right of way; ditches; and property, MUST BE SUBMITTED to the office a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the anticipated commencement of any planned works. No work may begin until written permission has been granted and received by the applicant. If you proceed with unauthorized work you will be liable to undo the work you have done - at your cost. If you fail to return the land back to the original condition and the Municipality does the work or hires someone to do the work you will be responsible for all costs involved. If you fail to pay the costs will be applied to your taxes.

RM of Martin #122 03.09.2019

Just a friendly reminder to lock the doors on your houses, vehicles and property. There has been a rash of vehicles stolen and property stolen not only in town but also in the country.
