I’ve written this a hundred times and I still don’t know how to tell you, so I’m just going to say itI have decided to close down Treestone Massage Therapy and Wellness. As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision. When I took a step back to look at it all, unless I figured out how to clone myself (#notascientist) there just wasn’t a way to keep massaging full time and support our other family business. Something had to give. I was tired and running out of steam, and ...this was the decision that made the most sense for me and for my family. As many of you already know, I stopped massaging in January so I could work full time in the office at Fix It Right Plumbing & Heating with my husband and his very talented crew. We have big plans for Fix It Right this year, and to make that happen we both needed to commit. In 2020 (prior to reopening after the first lockdown), Danielle and Kortney of Stony Plain Acupuncture reached out to see if I had space available in the clinic. They fell in love with the space, and the rest will soon be history! I’m so excited to announce that Stony Plain Acupuncture is going to be taking over Treestone Massage Therapy’s location. I want to thank every single one of my clients for your support over the past 5 years. Your patronage and referrals made my little business a huge success in a very short time. Thank you for trusting me with your aches, pains and mental struggles. But most of all, thank you for being you! I have learnt so much and grown so much as a person during our time together. I am forever grateful! I promise you will be the first to know when I am back to doing what I love to do! In the meantime, I know a lot of great massage therapists I can refer you to. Send me a text or give me a call if you need a recommendation! (780) 862-0164

Back to normal on Monday! The government has decided to lift the restrictions on wellness services. As of January 18, 2021 clients are no longer required to to have a prescription or referral for massage. If you need an appointment, contact us!

We need a favour. Would you please take a minute and complete this quick poll to tell us your plans for massage therapy in 2021? We'd really appreciate it! https://poll.app.do/massage-in-2021

Exciting news! Our patience and persistence has paid off massage therapy has been recognized as an important part of maintaining our health & well being by the Alberta Government {and when it seemed no exceptions would be made, an exception was made}! This is a huge win for our non-regulated profession; our associations chose to band together and fight to get massage therapists back to work. This is a big step in the right direction, and hopefully we will see massage thera...py regulated in the near future to avoid being confused for a non-essential service moving forward. That being said, Treestone Massage Therapy and Wellness will remain closed until the end of 2020. We will reopen on January 2nd, 2021. In early December, I felt depleted and needed to take some time to reset so I could continue to give my clients the best possible treatment and the level of care they deserve. My family and I went to Mexico, which means I will be quarantining for 14 days as required {and as I also require from all of my clients per the guidelines given by the government and my association}. My {Janet’s} return date is scheduled for January 5th. Most of my clients have pre-booked their appointments for January. : . The government has stated that an existing written prescription/referral is acceptable as long as it was issued in the last 12 months. Please email your referral to [email protected] or text a picture to 780-862-0164. **If you need help finding a practitioner who can issue you a prescription/referral, please contact me directly!** If you are unable to get a referral/prescription in time {or you would prefer to wait until the new restrictions are lifted}, you will need to cancel/re-book your appointment. If you are on a waiting list, keep an eye out for availabilities that may come up as a result of this. Karina will return to the clinic on January 2nd. In the meantime, she too will be taking advantage of the well deserved time off to recharge and come back stronger than ever! Thank you for your support, everyone! Looking forward to seeing you in 2021!

I'm sure some of you saw today's announcement and are anxious to re-book your massage appointment. Please know that we are required to wait for our association to provide further details and outline requirements for our profession before we are able to accept any bookings. We do know that a prescription or a referral will be required per the government's announcement today, but we still need to wait for further direction from our profession's governing bodies. We promise we will post when we have more information and we know exactly what this will mean for Treestone in the coming days. Thank you all for your patience and support!

For many Albertans, massage therapy is a necessary therapy to manage their pain. We believe that massage therapists should be allowed to be classified as health service providers and remain open under the current restrictions. Alberta does not have a massage college at this time, but all Alberta massage associations have required similar precautions of their members as those of the colleges of chiropractors and physiotherapists (who are allowed to continue practicing). If yo...u believe that massage therapists should be allowed to continue to work, please consider signing this petition (https://bit.ly/allowmassage) or writing an email to your local MLA. We appreciate your support as we all get through these next 4 weeks together! Please note: change.org is a for-profit organization, and there are no guarantees that donations made to them are applied to this cause. While we greatly appreciate your signature, we do not recommend "chipping in".

I need your help! Sensation Nails here in Stony Plain is a small business with a big heart. Since re-opening after the first lock down this spring, business has been slow. Before they are forced to close again this Sunday, let's show them some local love! Go in and get a manicure or a pedicure (we are talking to BOTH men and women here- even Jason went in to support them, and he never lets anyone touch his feet ). If you don't feel comfortable having a service performed right now, buy a gift card for yourself or someone else to use when things are able to re-open in 2021. Let's band together and help these small, locally owned businesses survive these strange and unusual times. Thank you everyone!

Big news, everyone! My January, February and March 2021 schedule is now listed on the online booking system! I’ll be doing things differently in 2021 and will only be taking bookings via text at 780.862.0164. Spots will fill up quickly, so be sure to get yourself booked in soon! As I reflect on 2020 and set goals for 2021, I am resolving to respect my boundaries more consistently. That means that I will not be working outside of the availability you see posted online. I thank you in advance for your understanding. Just a friendly reminder that I (Janet) am no longer accepting new clients.
