It was 2 years ago yesterday ROABA with the help of our communities, Rally 4 Resources - The Movement, Canada Action, Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) came together to become one voice in support of Oil & Gas. It was the first of it’s kind, an Aboriginal led Pipeline Rally and Truck Covoy. I am so proud of what ROABA has done in the past to be that voice for our people, and look forward to even more reconciliation in the future.... An article on fellow IRN (Indigenous Resource Network) Committee Advisor Judy Desjarlais and my take for Biden cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline. Slight typo on our membership, should read ROABA Membership’s layoffs at 75%, and not membership down 75%. Thank you APTN National News for hearing us out. ... Announcement from Keystone XL: Today we announced our decision to award a contract to Michels Canada for the safe construction of the Keystone XL pipeline proje...ct in Alberta. Michels will be responsible for completing the pipeline component of the Keystone XL project across Alberta, beginning on the southern portion of the right-of-way in Special Areas No. 3, with construction activities continuing through to 2022. Michels has extensive experience constructing energy infrastructure in Alberta and around the world. They were selected based on TC Energys core principles of safety, environmental stewardship and stakeholder engagement, along with their financial strength, technical expertise, and contract competitiveness. TC Energy has a long history of working collaboratively with Michels and we look forward to continuing our successes on the Keystone XL project. In the coming weeks, as Michels begins to mobilize their construction crews, communities will begin to see increased activity in their areas. As always, please reach out to us with any questions or comments. We look forward progressing the construction of the Keystone XL Project in Alberta and we encourage you to visit Keystone-XL.com to learn more about the Project. Regards, Keystone XL Public Affairs

To the Lac La Biche flood victims needing help, and people/businesses/organizations which would like to help in any sense you can contact: The Lac La Biche County Emergency Social Services and speak to Anita who is the Director at 780 623 6819. I am told at this time the need for essentials is diminishing rapidly due too the aid from fellow residents and surrounding communities stepping up so gracefully. ... At this time ROABA would like to offer our sincerest gratitude to the people of Fort McMurray for reaching out to help with the flood victims in Lac La Biche. To extend your hand of help out while you are still getting back on your feet is unbelievable but does not surprise me. Thank you to our MLA Laila Goodridge for personally reaching out and to our MP David Yurdiga for all that you have been doing to help as well. You must see the good in every bad situation, and I see nothing but great people, and communities coming to Lac La Biches aid in time of need. But then again this is Alberta and this is how we all roll to suppor one another in any crisis. Thank you all, President Shawn McDonald.

I am super impressed by Goodfish Lake Business Corp. wholly owned by Whitefish (Goodfish) Lake FN 128. They have changed their sewing/garment model from manufac...turing industrial coveralls to face masks and have hired due to the need - employing 25 local seamstresses. They thought they could make several hundred a shift but have made up to 1800 a day. Yesterday evening I attended a conference call for a Small Business Roundtable discussion with other stakeholders throughout Alberta with The Honourable Tanya Fir, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Tourism. There was many valuable opinions forwarded to Minister Fir and her colleagues on how Alberta can move towards an Economic Recovery coming from many different types of Industries around the Province. I of course echoed my past perspective on how it will be a... slow if any recovery at all without our Provinces main Industry (Oil & Gas) to help kick start it. I spoke of how shopping local would also be a key factor it stimulating our beaten down economy within our communities and Provincially as well. I suggested that the Federal Government and Eastern Provinces should follow suit with shopping local and start supporting Canadian Local Oil & Gas by building the Energy East Pipeline, and not supporting non-local energy from countries with much lower standards then ours. We (Canada) got caught with our pants down when the COVID-19 Pandemic struck and we found ourselves short of a lot of essential goods that could easily have and should be Made in Canada. We outsource too many goods and services (jobs included) that we can do here in Canada, if we were to reverse this tread, that alone would stimulate our economy like never seen in decades. I was asked about policies that could be put in place to help our economy and shopping local was the one I suggested. I also again echoed my stance against the current Federal policies now in place like Bill C-69, and Bill C-48 and how they are destroying our Oil & Gas Industry among others. Rectify these policies and watch stimulation again along with Investments back into our Country, along with a much larger tax base so no cuts would have to be so deep (live below your means). I would like to thank our hard working MLA Laila Goodridge for the invitation for ROABA to participate and thank you as well to The Honourable Minister Fir for hearing me out. I apologize to last nights group if I got a little long winded and a little passionate on the subjects I spoke about. However when your members, communities and Province is suffering over a lost economy, that in my mind should have never been shut down (again mentioned to the group), and when the suicide rate is at an all time high and communities youth retention is at an all time low I tend to get a little hot around the collar. Thank you. Your ROABA President, Shawn McDonald.

Job well done and all delivered to Fort McMurray!! A huge thank you to all mentioned on earlier posts as well. Without any of you this could never have happened. I personally reached out in the past to ROABA members and our communities we represent for the 2016 wild fires and you came through. Once again I asked and with no surprise you have come shinning through! I also personally want to thank my boys and wife, and once again MP David Yurdiga for guiding me, and Our MLA La...ila Goodridge for helping out and meeting us once again! She was literally up to knees in mud helping her fellow community members out and still made the time to meet with us. Fort McMurray you are more than just our neighbors. You are our family, friends, and ROABA members as well. COVID-19 or not, we are here to support you and welcome you with open arms. If you need help with anything else, let us know because we are here for you. Do unto others... President McDonald.
