What happens when that becomes a reality? Well, it's very simple. We get petty and feel offended as though our worth is dependant on the other side's reaction to the offer. Someone submits a lowball offer, selling side gets offended and either doesn't counter or counters with something totally absurd. It's called... ego folks. And it can sometimes make putting a deal together a little interesting and calls for creativity. I've had a few situations where the buyer or the seller will respond in a way that wasn't in accordance with the other side's expectations and some counter offer management was in order. It always makes for a great tale over a beer once the paperwork is signed.
