Merry Mask Christmas! Simcoe Street United Church was closed due to COVID but a few of us decided to participate in the worldwide Christmas Eve Jingle by ringing the church bell. Thank you to Glenn McKnight, Joan Kerr, Jason Datsi, Melissa McKnight for their help. Hope it gives all a smile. As an aside I spoke to the gentleman handing out soup outside at the Church 75 served tonight. Thanks to Derek Giberson too.

Recently I was took part in a walk about town with a good friend Dean Hickey & a group of Oshawa thinkers. It was a great night - looking at the good & sad with clear eyes & thoughtful discussion. Oshawa is the place to be - a growing & caring community. I look forward to the future. Here is Dean Hickey's write up he had done a fantastic job - very insightful! Thank you!

Christmas Eve go outside if you can safely & ring a bell for 2 minutes to safely celebrate the season. Do not form groups & stay socially distanced. And listen if you are in Oshawa I will ring a big church bell (the church is not open).

I love it - something we can all do safely from our own homes - or wherever we are

Raking leaves - nope not for me: I never rake - indeed I sometimes ask neighbours to dump their leaves on my grass. I have on occasion dumped huge number of bag...s onto my lawn. As long as you use your mower to chop & spread them out no problem Details The trick is to use your lawnmower to mulch them - even a side throw mower will work What I do is first keep the lawn cut to a reasonable height. Then when the leaves are down simply cut the grass making sure there are not big clumps of shredded leaves. If there are clumps simply run the lawn mower over the clump to disperse it. If you have a side throw mower aim the discharge at your garden to put some mulch there as well.

Happy Thanksgiving! I decided to put up an unusual post for Thanksgiving. Yes oddly political if you look at it narrowly. I ask that you do not do that. Instead consider the issue behind the story. My message: Be Thankful for what you have - be kind to those who do not even have what you have.... It would be not unexpected to hear some people call this crazy. But I think that would be not right. In my unprofessional opinion the gentleman obviously had mental health issues. That is very sad. We need to think more on how to help & yes handle people like him. I think there are far more people than people realize with "issues" - we need to think about that & our response. No easy answers here. Just a request for thought. I often see it even here on facebook - people insulting & being insulted & called names. Think before you call names - what we say about others often says more about our self than the other. Love, Peace, & Joy to All! Be Thankful & give Thanks!
