Had a great time yesterday afternoon making some fresh headshots for Simon. Its always an interesting process when you meet someone for the first time, spend a couple of hours shooting and chatting and trying to catch the honest moments that make them who they are. Sometimes its hard and sometimes its dead easy. Simon was an easy one. He came prepared to be open and play and I think it shows in the shots we got. Here are a few of the ones that I personally like.

Finally, after much Covid induced hesitation, starting to book headshot sessions again here at my studio in Port Moody. Its easy to socially distance with a 200mm lens for these types of shots. Everyone's safe and happy. Here are a few fresh images for the past month or so.

Time to get back to work! The film industry is opening the door a crack to allow productions to resume. So with that in mind, I'm sure you're all in need of fresh Headshots for the Brave New World. I'm ready whenever you are. Give me a shout and we'll shoot you some amazing looks.

For the past couple of years I have been offering my photo services as part of a fundraiser to my kids elementary school. We shoot family portrait all day long with mini 15 minute sessions. Its a challenge to say the least and a great exercise for me. From these session, and word of mouth by some of the school families I've shot a few 'real' family sessions. Here are shots from one family where we set up at Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam to catch some of the fall colours.

Following Carl, I had Miles Richardson come for fresh shots. I had shot Miles a few years ago while he was still at university. I think both he and I were happy with the shots we got on this day.

About time to catch up on some recent sessions. First off, a young actor in for his first ever headshot session. After the initial nerves faded, we settled into a nice rhythm and came away with quite a few good selections for him to share with agents. Keep your eyes open for Carl B. Davies in future film or tv roles.

Actor Kevin Morrison from Kelowna made the trek down to my studio in Port Moody to shoot some fresh headshots. We had a short bit of time but managed to get some good and varied looks for him. Shot at my outdoor setup at home using 2 Godox AD200s in softboxes and a 42" silver reflector. Canon 5d mkIV 70-200. f3.2 1/4000.

Elliott in his sunglasses and Lightning McQueen jacket! Very cool!

A quick outdoor portrait with Lee Booker. We did a quick lunchtime session and this was one of the candid shots from then. I'm still in the process of doing edits on our shots from that day and will post some fresh shots when I (and Lee) have them.

Peter D. from Edmonton was back on the coast to meet with the producers and director of a film. While he was in the area we took the opportunity to shoot a couple more looks for his portfolio. Both he and I are happy with the results. Keep your eye out for this guy on the screen!!

Its always fun and interesting and definitely a challenge to shoot headshots for actors. Trying to show the best of them and pull out personality and character along with approachability in a single shot with someone you have only just met. Quite the feat. I met with Jason, who was sent my way by his acting coach, David Allan Pearson. We spent a couple of hours trying different looks and subtle changes to the light as we kept dodging direct sunlight. I think we came away with some really good stuff.

My little wonder and her birthday cake.

Had another session with Lee Booker. This is the fourth time I've had the chance to shoot Lee. Each time is different and we seem to always come away with a nice range of looks for her. For this session, I set up my kit in the driveway at home.

Actor headshot session in my driveway. Peter came in from Edmonton for a couple of days and we managed to get some time to shoot some fresh headshots for him.

At the end of my headshot session with Toni last week, Pam and her sister Mikayla came home before I took down my gear. We snapped a few fun shots. And I had a chance to play with some editing too.

Bruce Edwards Photography 07.04.2020

I did a couple of actor headshot sessions last week where I took my lighting setup out onto my driveway to shoot. The setup is a simple two or three lights and generally a silver reflector at about waist height to fill a bit of light under the chin. I'm really pleased with the results I'm getting with this general arrangement. It helps having people in front of the camera who are comfortable and willing to play and work to get those few shots that really work for them. I'll post a couple of shots from each session and I'm sure I'll add a few more as I go through my editing process. I'd love to hear comments from anyone.

One more image of Michael to share. This one is shot in my studio using 3 lights and a 42" silver reflector under his chin. My studio is a pretty tights space but works well for this type of shot.

headshots for realtor Michael Riehl. I set up and shot the first half of our session outside (in my driveway) and then moved into my studio to finish up. it was a great, relaxing couple of hours and I think we came away with some great shots.

Some test shots of the kids with my new setup.

I recently picked up some new gear. Mark was the first actor I used my new setup on (I had done some testing on my family). I had set up in my driveway on a fairly bright afternoon. My setup was my Canon 5D mkIV with a 70-200mm f2.8 lens. 2 Godox AD200 flashes in modifiers and a 42" silver reflector just out of camera under Mark's chin. I had also tethered my camera to my laptop so that we could immediately see the results. All in all, for a first effort, I'm reasonably happy with what we got. Here are a few of Mark's selections and a couple of my own edits. Looking forward to my next session.

Its been a while since Ive taken some shots of my boy. Hes growing and changing so fast. Yesterday we went for a walk in the woods and I was happy to get a few nice pics of little superman. This one in particular is a favourite. .

I had a short session this past Sunday in Port Moody with Brittnie Rae. I had shot Brittnie previously (about 4 years ago) and in that session came away with what I think are some great images. Despite the cold, we managed to again get some really nice shots. I'd love to hear what you think of them.

I was asked to shoot black and white profile images of a group of writers who are collaborating on a book about women in business. I met and shot them all in Fort Langley at Wisteria Acres, a beautiful retreat hidden away from the city.
