The QSC verbal strategy plays an important part of the Norton Arts self-protection program. Why? Because self-protection focuses on reducing the risk of violence by teaching people how to better identify, avoid and manage conflict versus solely teaching the physical side taught through most martial art based programs. The Grade 8 & 9 students at Stonepark Intermediate did a great job in the first course run in PEI’s public schools.

I always have the deepest of respect for those working on the front line of healthcare. Violence isn't decreasing, it is increasing. It is so important that those working in this field and similar are provided the training to better manage violence. If we like it or not, violence is real! Since writing the book and developing the workshops, I have been in a great position to constantly improve the training courses I offer. The modular approach I put in place a while back now has started to get traction. The 2hr Verbal Engagement workshop is certainly becoming popular in workplaces. Although I am based in PEI, Canada I am looking to put this particular module online in the near future.
