On Tuesday March 17, 2020, Ontario Superior Court of Justice operations will be suspended until further notice. Only urgent public health & safety matters, and urgent civil, family and criminal matters will be heard. Claims may be issued online, for those who have limitation periods approaching.

The Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General has just announced that the Simplified Procedure will be extended to claims of up to $200,000, effective January 1, 2020. The Simplified Procedure provides a more efficient, cost-effective court process for the resolution of disputes. This will help to make the justice system more accessible to ordinary people.

Some good advice here, even though the article is from the United States and the practice is a little different there. Also some food for thought.
