We are deeply saddened to hear of Joey’s passing, and feel so fortunate to have had the chance to get to know him through three years of Sledge Hockey Day. To say that his presence was the event highlight is a vast understatement. In every interaction with each adoring fan, Joey’s demeanor was one of openness, kindness, a wonderful sense of humor and a calm, confident dignity. He was a bright light and an inspiration, and we know his legacy will live on. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and to all those who knew and loved him at Winnifred Stewart Association, Edmonton Oilers, the Oilers Entertainment Group and EE Football Team.
