If you want to have beautiful thoughts you must nourish your brain with beautiful words.... This month I've got a book of poetry in the bathroom (Take Me With You by Andrea Gibson) A moving memoir for reading before bed (The Dark Side of Innocence by Terri Cheney), and every morning after I meditate I nourish my soul with a little Thich Nhat Hanh. Generally while I'm puttering around the house I'll either listen to music (obsessed with Jurassic Five at the moment) or listen t...o yet another book. Right now I'm listening to Demi Moore's "Inside Out". Does that seem like a lot? I haven't been watching much TV and have been limiting my Facebook scroll time to 15 minutes a day. I've been doing this since April and I can honestly say I'm noticing benefits. I mean I've always been an avid reader but Facebook was definitely cutting into that pastime.

For your consideration I am offering the following on what can be an awkward, uncomfortable topic..... Unless they get help to heal and overcome it, children of narcissists can live their entire lives feeling overly-sensitive, deeply insecure, and unable to see themselves as good and worthy. Sadly, because they dealt with it all their lives, it is their normal and they unconsciously attract it into their lives, through their adult relationships, and in their work cultures and... careers. The very nature of the narcissist is to confuse, to create doubt and insecurity. Any kind of relationship with a narcissist can be the cause of intense, acute anxiety. But I believe knowledge is power. Knowing the following traits that many adult children of narcissistic parents have in common may be the first step in healing or even supporting someone else in their healing journey... Adult Children of Narcissistic Parents are often: Very attuned to what everyone around them is feeling, because they have a hyper-sensitivity to what others are experiencing. They have had to become natural empaths in order to survive their childhoods. This can lead to their inability to protect themselves from the emotions of others and result in the inability to regulate their own. Chronically unsure of themselves, and overly-worried about what others think of them, leading to crippling anxiety. The relationships they form at work, friendships or even romantic alliances, are often toxic and confusing. If the above experiences resonate with you, please know that with help, change and healing is possible.

Being in a relationship with a narcissist is hard. Anxiety? Check. Depression? Check. Alienation from friends and family? Check. Feel confused when you try to stick up for yourself? Check. Self esteem almost non existent? Check. Recognizing your partner is a narcissist is only half the battle; just the very thought of leaving intensifies the anxiety to paralyzing levels. Begin by planning an exit strategy, break it down into small tasks. Leaving doesn't have to happen overn...ight or even next week. Take it one step at a time. Begin to fantasize about your life after you've left. All the good things, all the best things. Fantasize as you fall asleep at night, daydream while you do your daily tasks. Go see a professional. Find someone you feel comfortable with, you have healing to do. It's important not just to recover from the relationship but to heal the little broken bits that attracted the narcissist in the first place.

I love this! I do it all the time in different variations. I think I'm going to write this one on my "get ready" mirror...

Sometimes we are stressed out because we have very much entrenched ourselves in the world around us; we react to other people, to situations, and in those moments, we forget who we are. This is such a grounding thing to do and an incredible stress reliever. When you are feeling overwhelmed or upset in any way, try it, take a deep breath in and on the exhale....... "Say or think I Am and add nothing to it. Be aware of the stillness that follows the I Am. Sense your presence, the naked, unveiled, unclothed beingness. It is untouched by young or old, rich or poor, good or bad, or any other attributes." from Eckhart Tolles A New Earth

Mother nature is getting ready to teach us how important it is to rest, how nourishing it is to embrace change & how freeing it is to let things go.

To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. When you are born a lotus flower, be a beautiful lotus flower, don't try to be a magnolia flower. If you crave acceptance and recognition and try to change yourself to fit what other people want you to be, you will suffer all your life. True happiness and true power lie in understanding yourself, accepting yourself, having confidence in yourself. Thich Nhat Hanh, The Art of Power

At it's peak, one of my covid survival strategies was ordering accessories online for dog photo shoots and collecting houseplants. I now have too many plants and dogs trained to pose when I point my phone at them.

Take charge of your healing. You do most of it while you sleep. So before you fall asleep at night, be the boss, tell your brain to do it's job. Tell it to do it's job and heal your cold, your cut finger, your hurt feelings, your fear. Do it every night for every hurty thing.

When you read this at first, you read it wrong. Your brain assumed it knew what was written based on everything you know about similar sentences you've read before. If you read the sentence with intention, you'll read it exactly as it is written. The moral here? Do all important things with intention!

I've been feeling a little uninspired lately. Busy with clients, life being just one thing after another, you know how it is. So I shall share my favorite inspiring memes!

Not that your people don't need a hand up at times. You know, to inspire, excite and remind them of what they have to be grateful for.

Your brain responds to every thought you think by encouraging the production of chemicals, hormones and neurotransmitters that in turn create physical sensations like happy or anxious. You can literally alter your body and brain chemistry to change your mood, regardless of how you feel or why. You are the boss!... #brainboss

GREAT NEWS!!!!! Clinical Hypnotherapists registered with ARCH Canada are now association members of RITMA!!!! RITMA members are recognized by most insurance companies, which allow the therapist to issue receipts for services rendered to their clients, who in turn submit to their private insurance companies for refund.... RITMA Association represents therapists in Massage Therapy, Orthotherapy, Kinesitherapy, Naturopathy and Osteopathy and now, ARCH accredited Clinical Hypnotherapists and Clinical Counseling Hypnotherapists. RITMA's mission is to actively represent and promote Alternative and Complementary Medicine. The association is also well known for its rigorous requirements, which protects the public by guaranteeing professional quality services and ensure therapists a solid credibility. Clinical Hypnotherapy has been proven in many peer reviewed studies to be more effective than Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the treatment of anxiety and depression. Forget what you've seen in the movies and at hypnosis stage shows, in the capable hands of an ARCH Accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist you can heal and break through the challenges keeping you from fulfilling your highest potential.

If I had the talent required to create these I would have added "a ten minute nap".

Easier said than done sometimes am I right? Sometimes I need to just repeat and repeat to myself, "everything unfolds as it should".
