Feeling grateful for our incredible community, our clients who trust us as partners in their wellness, our team of incredible humans, and for the resilience that we see growing around and within us through these changing and challenging times. Also wanting to acknowledge the complexity of holidays like this one in our country's history of colonization and appropriation, and our ongoing responsibility to be aware of, leaning about, and healing those injustices that continue t...o this day. Wishing you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend. #fromoournesttoyours #robinsnestfamilycare #thanksgiving2020 #happythankagiving

Today, a word from our house Developmental Movement Trainer and NeruOptimal Brain Training Coach, Joanne "Hand clapping games are so much fun and a great way to connect with your child. You can share your favorites from your childhood. They also help develop many important foundational skills necessary for academic learning such as bilateral coordination, crossing the midline, patterning, sequencing, eye hand coordination and more!" Interested in learning more about hand-cl...apping games? My dad was a car mechanic. He could drive a car, listen to the sounds it made, figure out what was wrong with it, and then go in and fix it. I often think of the the way that I work with clients in a similar way: I get to listen to them talk about what they are experiencing, then we both get quiet and I listen to what their body is telling me. Its all interconnected. I can sit at your feet and notice something thats not right in your sinuses. I figure out what is going on ...in the body that is preventing it from doing the beautiful autoregulation that it is designed to do. I am a mechanic of human bodies but my job is not to fix it. My job is to figure out why it is not fixing itself. - Robin #fromoournesttoyours #nobinsnestfamilycare #osteopathy

Happy Friday and congratulations on all the fiesta that so many families have made it through this week! A simple post today to remind you of all the goodness that there is to be had at the clinic. We created this team to be multidisciplinary on purpose. We did that becausewe believe that the best way for you to be as healthy as possible is to have easy access to the right kind of support as quickly as possible. We created a team that has a rich variety and depth of knowle...dge and that is made up of practitioners who talk to each other, who get that your time is valuable, and that the time that they get to spend with you is a precious window in which they get to be your partner on your path through life, health, pain, growth, parenthood, sickness.... all of it. There is magic inside these walls! #fromournesttoyours #robinsnestfamilycare #osteopathy #massagetherapy #holisticnutrition #pediatricoccupationaltherapy #clinicalsocialwork #reiki #bowentherapy #neuroptimal #lactationconsultant #naturopathiccare

We are always learning. Our brains are always forming new pathways that we experience as habits, thoughts, feelings, and truths. Heading into the fall means back to school for some, back to work for some, new routines, and "figure it out" for many of us. Brain training can help us all (littles and bigs) to move through change, routine, and challenges in healthy ways. Especially if you (and/or your family) are feeling the stress if uncertain times this fall, simple brain trai...ning techniques can help build your resilience. We are excited to be planning a series of posts to share brain health and wellness tips from the brilliant brain of our very own NeurOptimal trainer Joanne! NeurOptimal is a brain-training program that supports the brains natural ability to self-regulate for optimal functioning. It works with the brains natural superpowers to learn, adapt, and self-organize. Keep and eye out for upcoming posts featuring Joannes tools and techniques over the next few weeks. And if you would like a deeper dive, you can book in with Joanne in the Nest (link in bio). #fromournesttoyours #neuroptimalneurofeedback #neuroptimal #neurofeedback #baintraining

Vitamin D is fantastically essential to our immunity and overall health, and as northern climate dwellers, Vitamin D deficiencies are an all-year-round thing to think about. Here are a few foods to keep in mind as sources of Vitamin D, even when the sun is shining! 1) Mushrooms 2) Salmon 3) Egg yolks... 4) Fortified foods (milks, juice, tofu) 5) Cheese Our in-house naturopath Dr. Janine is a huge fan of testing Vitamin D levels to ensure proper dosage and food strategies so if you are curious or feeling like its time for a tune up, you can check the link https://rnfc.janeapp.com/loc/robin-s-nest-family-care/book to book an appointment #fromournesttoyours #immunesupport #complementarycare #foodismedicine

Summertime sniffles are still a thing. Yes even though we are all being so careful and washing our hands, and bubbling and masking and distancing.... sniffles and sore throats can still happen. In these pandemic times, even common sore throats can be reason for concern so do go for COVID testing and/or self-isolate appropriately if you have symptoms and/or have been exposed to someone with a confirmed case. ...aaaaand.... Here is Robins favourite "nip it in the bud" sore t...hroat response to help with sore throat symptoms and give the body a boost that even her kids will happily take: 1 tsp diced garlic 1 tsp raw honey EAT IT! .....a little lemon tea wont hurt either. #fromournesttoyours #foodismedicine #complementarycare

Robin's Nest Family Care 14.03.2020

Yes, yes, yes, please remember to wash your hands!!! In our current pandemic context, PLEASE keep those hands clean.... But does it feel like we are losing something important at the same time as keeping ourselves and our families safe from COVID-19? There is some truth to the old saying that we should all eat a peck of dirt in our lifetimes. We love this blog post by our in-house Naturopathic Dr. Janine about simple and important ways that we can all be boosting our microbi...ome to support our bodies health and natural immunity, including: Eating leafy greens Eating a variety of vegetables Eating food grown in healthy, microbe-rich soil GETTING DIRTY!!!! Check out Dr. Janines full blog post here (https://ndguelph.ca//building-your-microbiome-with-vegetab) and if youd like to talk more about ways that you can support your overall health and immunity (while being COVID-conscious), you can book an appointment with Dr. Janine at Robins Nest (https://rnfc.janeapp.com/loc/robin-s-nest-family-care/book) #fromournesttoyours #Immunesupport #eatdirt #changinglives

Robin's Nest Family Care 10.03.2020

The past few months have had a dramatic effect on the amount of time we spend with people. Some folks have found themselves cut off from friends of family for fear of COVID-19 infection. Others have found themselves becoming more familiar than they EVER wanted to be with certain family members habits and needs ("do you HAVE to chew like THAT??!!") because of the order to stay within our bubbles. Both ends of this spectrum are stressful in their own ways and we hope that you...ve found time over this long weekend to spend some time regenerating in whatever ways you needed. Maybe you needed some alone time. Maybe you needed to do something fun with your kids so you could remember that you love them... and maybe you made it through the weekend and now you need to book a massage ;) book here: https://rnfc.janeapp.com/ #wereallinthistogether #selfcare #complementarycare #fromournesttoyours
