Classic Green Butt Skunk Marabou Spey with polar bear wing. The AJ heavy wire is a nice hook for this style.
Not much fishing to be done with all the high water these days but lots of time for tying. What are you tying?#steelheadflies

Want another reason to love Simms Fishing Products? These wonderful folks care about small business and they know our team is the secret sauce to our success. Our staff love getting outside and that translates into their work. These are trying times, so when Simms stepped in and outfitted Zak with a new Prodry jacket we couldn’t help but share this incredible gesture. This guy is a legend and his energy is next level. It’s impossible not to smile around him! Huge thanks to Simms for caring about us and valuing our team.

Well this just made us smile... Our friend and customer Jim Hayhurst just shared an amazing story from his trip to our friends at Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort "If you zoom in on the photo of me, you'll see 3 things (besides the fish, chopper and smile) On my wrist are an old yellow fly line and white cord. Both are from the tent Dad and I shared at Everest in 1988. I made bracelets of them this summer with my nephew PJ at the cottage.... You'll also see a pair of reading glasses clipped to my vest (handy when tying tippet line). Scroll forward and you'll see those same readers on my Dad as he wrote letters to his grandkids the day before he died. The day before we left for Nimmo, Greggy bought us matching vests at Robinson's Outdoor Store. It was a treat to share this local 4th generation family business with him. Each evening at the new Nimmo lodge, Greg would inevitably find Fraser and they would talk business, family and what it means to care deeply about what you create in the world. I watched and listened in delight. I count 4 family businesses here. Nimmo, MacMillan Orchards, West Coast Helicopters, Robinsons. Not to mention me and my Dad (Trails, etc.) and a certain next-gen CEO who showed up for a day. Dad would have loved it. In fact, I'm sure he had a few days banked with the gods and popped by. Sure felt like he was right there." Stories like this are what we live for. Thank you so much Jim for sharing this. It's an incredible operation at Nimmo Bay and we're happy to see that they have provided you with an experience you will never forget. #GetOutNFish
We’re feeling good this Friday after getting this photo from Devon Mader! With Zak’s help he tied his very first fly called the Clouser Minnow. Tight lines out there folks!

Happy International Women’s Fly Fishing Day! We’re proud to know some amazing female anglers. These two guided our first ever ladies fly tying night earlier this year!
It’s officially Chinook season and fish are piling into rivers up and down the island! Blue muddlers, blue and chartreuse comets, blue and green x-mas trees, and chartreuse and blue hoh boh speys all produced very well. Come ask this legend what SINK TIPS to use!
Here’s a shot of SINK TIP just crushing it. We’re so lucky to have him at the shop.
Musky on the fly, yes please! Shop regular Laura Pell getting it done in Kenora, ON. Check out the size of that fly!

Meet Andrew Barany: My name is Andrew and I’m a fly fishing addict... It all started three years ago in Campbell River with the pink salmon run. I’d previously been salt water fishing since a kid but figured I’d give fly fishing a try with an old rod and reel I’d been given when I was younger. That first day, I ended up casting for 7 hours straight, and finally a man down river called me over and hooked me up with a small blue fly and his spot. Within 3 casts, I landed my fir...st humpy! I’d never felt a fight like that before, and I was instantly hooked. Next day I caught 7, and since then I’ve been chasing fish. These days I enjoy tying fly’s and hunting all different species of fish especially trout and salmon with my dog Cosmo. Planning trips and getting out on any body of water is my place of zen! I appreciate and admire the fly fishing community who have shared their passion and knowledge with me. See you out there! Thanks to Lagartun LTD for sponsoring our customer bio series!
