Aaaaaand the antler theme continues - because I just can’t help but put at least hint of animal in every room we put together! Call me obsessed. But really, aren’t you also?? ... #mountain #ranch #cabin #log #timber #rustic #bathroom #antler #heirloomhome #ruralrealesatate #modernrustic #propertydesign #experiencedesign #wildestdreamshome #rurallife #westernstyle #mountainliving #wildestdreamspropertydesign #rochellelynnedesign

Did you pay attention to your life lessons? I didn’t for a long time. Isn’t it funny how the seeds for what you find yourself gravitating towards later in life were planted in the simplest and most ordinary of moments in your childhood? I grew up on the West Coast. ... Small towns. Simple yet filled with adventure lifestyle. Surround by majestic cedar and Douglas fir forests. Swimming in rivers, water-skiing on lakes, fishing on the Pacific Ocean, and when I was a bit older, taking to the slopes of the mountains that surrounded us. My heart and soul were shaped by a constant interaction and reverence for nature and animal (both domestic & wild). My dad was a forester, my mom an artist..guess you could say I turned out to be the perfect combination of the two.although I did detour for a bit as I pursued fashion design (of all things!) in the big city! That didn’t last long. I just couldn’t find my passion there. So here I am today, reflecting on the life journey that brought me to where I am now. Loving what I do, surrounded by a beautiful family of my own whom I am incredibly proud of, and a work family (the RLD team!) whom I couldn’t imagine taking this passion driven journey without! So what are the lessons I have learned in getting here? 1. Stop trying to outsmart your heart. It knows you better than your logic does! 2. Dream BIG and then go chase it with all that you have in you! (It took me most of my life to get over this hump. Sure wish I had learned this one in my 20’s!). I’m doing this now that I’m past 50 (gulp) and am having the time of my life!! 3. Surround yourself with all sorts of people who share your passions and who are smarter than you at at least one of them. This was a real game changer for me - when I started seeking out relationships with this in mind, I found myself amongst the most brilliant and inspiring variety of people of my life! Those connections have often turned into beautiful friendships, fruitful business relationships, and fulfilling opportunities to make a difference in the world by giving back to our community. #chaseyourdreams #aboutme #wildestdreamspropertydesign #rusticliving #westcoastgirl

The most important thing I’ve learned about simplicity is that simplicity wins in the long run. Simple is stickier than complexity, and it survives. I think nature teaches us that, and we learn it time and again in work and in life. Isaac Newton quite possibly summarized it best, and with the simplest of statements, when he said Nature is pleased with simplicity.... I also am pleased with simplicity. For a long time I have seen people from the western industry tease city people for wearing a cowboy hat backwards, or just wearing boots at the rodeo, or mode...ls wearing a new line of western wear that, in reality isn’t western at all. We tease them for trying to be like us. When in reality we should encourage them and consider it a compliment. The western way of life has been under attack for a long long time, most people don’t even know we are still out here. So don’t you think instead of scaring people away from us, we should be encouraging and inviting even if they do miss the mark? Someday they might help us make a difference. When someone picks up a rope and has no clue what’s going on help them kindly or at least keep it fun. When a little kid is at the rodeo and is just looking into the arena in awe go up and let them pet your horse and meet a cowboy. When a girl is trying to dress up cute and puts on a cowboy hat that she got from Walmart tell her she looks great. This way of life is dying and if we keep running off anyone that takes even the smallest interest in this culture, all we are doing is helping it die a little faster. So even if it’s just a western influencer that’s never actually doctored a cow, or Beyoncé with a cowboy line. Who cares. Love it. Let them do it, encourage them as long as they aren’t hurting anything. The World Needs More Cowboys
