We often hear about vacation stories but don’t expect to this year!! Most of our team is used to the dental talk when you have a rubber dam or you aren’t quite able to talk as you normally do! Typically we are just asking if you are okay and comfortable!
Who would have thought there would be a connection between root canal filling material and golf balls? (And usually the smell patients notice during a root canal is the infection! But the dental office has lots of particular smells, doesn’t it?) https://www.mcgill.ca//what-smell-when-i-get-root-canal-do
Not the way most dentists make pizza!
Teeth break all the time!! When we look at a broken tooth we consider a number of factors including the following : are you having any symptoms that point towards an issue with the nerve? what’s the best approach to keep this tooth strong for the future? ... if we do a filling, is the remaining tooth structure strong? Is it cracked? Is it at a high risk to break? is a crown to cover the tooth the best option? what is the prognosis of each treatment option? All these concerns help us decide what your treatment options are so we can discuss your options with you and decide what option you are comfortable with!
Happy New Year!!
What a year! Long post alert ! Most industries have had some sort of changes in the way they run their business due to the challenges and adaptations that come along with Covid 19 Dentistry was no exception. ... Our office was closed for 2.5 months. A lot of this time closed was spent not knowing when we would open and what changes we would endure. This time was also spent sourcing PPE for our teams that was authentic, reputable, and realistically comfortable and functional. It was a challenging time We reopened June 1st with a well thought out protocol from The Dental Association of PEI. This protocol has evolved as the covid 19 risk on PEI fluctuated and continues to be our mandated guideline during the pandemic. It has allowed us to be back to work so we can be there for our patients. It guides us to have a safe environment for our patients and team members with safety as our top priority. 2020 has been a year none of us expected but we have a lot to be thankful for in how we all react to and live within the changes: Thank you to our amazing team members! The positive attitude, the willingness to adapt, and the determination to see this through is something each of our team members display every day. They come prepared to ensure our patients are safe and have an excellent experience. Thank you to our team for being amazing at what you do! Thank you to our patients! Thank you for putting your trust on our protocols. Thank you for being understanding, patient, and accepting of all the changes. You make our days easier and we are so grateful to have incredible patients! Thank you to the members of the Dental Association of PEI and the Dental Council for the endless hours of research, meetings, etc that went into creating and amending our protocol. This guideline gives us the evidence based knowledge we need to make sure our office is prepared and equipped for treating our patients safely So yes, it’s been a year! And it’s almost over!!! 2021 - Rochford Family Dental is all ready for you!!!

If a tooth breaks - don’t try to superglue it back in your mouth If a tooth breaks off a partial- don’t superglue it back on If your denture breaks, don’t tie it together with floss!! ... If a tooth chips, don’t use your own nail file to smooth it When something in your mouth or a dental prosthetic breaks, go see a professional. We can fully assess the damage and suggest treatment options. Adding foreign and non dental approved materials to your mouth or denture can be detrimental to your health and the strength of a partial/denture Let us do our job and help you!
What sharp teeth you have!!
