BABY STEPS When I am working with clients one on one, or in my pre-recorded workshops (link in bio) take on what you can handle is something everyone will hear me say a lot. The reason this is so important to me, I want you to succeed. I want you to accomplish goals that are realistic for your family. When we are asked to achieve unrealistic, unhealthy or unbalanced goals, we usually fail because the task at hand is simply impossible! This is all too common in books we ...read, experts we enlist to support our journey, and pressures we put on ourselves to sleep train or get rid of bad habits. This is a recipe for disaster. I don’t know about you, but if someone asked me to uproot my schedule, force me and my child to stick to a rigid routine, push us to our max at 2, 3, and 4am because we needed to be consistent and stick to the plan, I’m sorry but I personally can’t do that and I’m going to give up. This is stressful for everyone, and will more often than not end in failure and overwhelm. I’ve been doing this a long time, and 10 years ago, I would have told you to push through the night, to be consistent, and I believed that was the only way. Just like you, I thought this needed to happen to achieve success. Boy was I wrong. You might achieve success, but how you feel on the journey there is my focal point. I want you to feel good, empowered, and confident. Not stressed, tired and unsure. That’s why I always say, take on what you can handle, because the success lies in the baby steps. This will take time, I will only ask you to take on what you and your child can handle, and that might look like just focusing on bedtime at first. Focusing on one part of the day, typically bedtime when the drive for sleep is high, will allow you to accomplish your goal, follow through, and build the muscle of the new skill, that can then be carried on into other parts of the night. Building healthy practical foundation, is like building a house. You can’t put the curtains up before the walls are built. You need to lay solid foundation, with a plan! Give yourself a break, it’s okay to take it slow, slow and steady wins the race! I’m here for you comment or DM me See more
