We have hiked the Lynn Valley Secret Forest, it is said that this forest holds both the worlds thickest diameter Western Hemlock, and before its clear cut logging in 1920, was also home to a 125m Douglas Fir the Tallest Tree in the World! (This is a baby tree)

Celebrating our 9th Wedding Anniversary where it all started in the mountains for one final week of this beautiful adventure. We cant wait to see how much further we go

We found one!! We have travelled all the way to Canadas Sub-Mediterranean Climate, Southern Gulf Islands in hopes to find this incredible tree. After an incredible hike through Ruckle Provincial Park, we found this stunning Arbutus tree clinging to a rock overhanging the warm Straight of Georgia. Known as The Painted Tree, this smooth shedding wondering is truly a colourful sight to see!!

Our second leg of our West Wood Tour had us with the incredible staff at Ohyama Ramen in Whistler. After our 3 month work trip in Japan was cancelled, we were so happy to be a part of Canadas best Ramen shop. This interior wood structure is designed to resemble Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum in Yokohama Japan. Make sure you say Hi to Mike if you stop by!!

West Wood Tour Day 12: On August 11 1956 a 12 boxcar train loaded with lumber heading from Lillooet to Vancouver jumped the tracks going more than twice the speed limit, on a narrow stretch cut through rock, passing through Whistler. Today the boxcars lay scattered throughout a stunning forest along rushing turquoise glacier fed river for all to discover.

Our Wood Tour of The West continues, with the incredible Mystery Ship Wreck discovered in 1896. This is the hull of a 46 metre ship with Douglas Fir Timbers, wooden pegs and iron drift pin fastenings, she is nameless and if you head to Ucluelet, BC you can walk her planks and even climb to her keelson.

Our future brother in-law just picked up a beautiful new shop we couldnt wait to check out, on the same day hes been hired by Vancouver Fire Department and cant use his new space for two months due to training... I guess I could stay and put it to use!

There is no Western Wood Art more globally symbolic of our lands First Nations heritage than the Haida. Gyáaaang, or Totem (odoodem) come only from this incredible and specific piece of the Globe. These monumental carvings are from the Pacific Northwest Coast.
