Not surprised!!! A great song is a great song!

Rocky Mountain High Concert 27.10.2020

Hi Everyone! I posted a tribute video yesterday to our Canadian Aviators that we have lost in the last number of weeks. Below is the explanation and a youtube link. Not sure if the Facebook video is showing much....so thought I would add the youtube link as well. Please share! It’s been a very rough time for everyone due to the COVID-19 shut downs. Every province has had their share of sadness but our eastern cousins in Nova Scotia have been hit especially hard. As Canadians ...our hearts are breaking for them. The loss of twenty two souls from a senseless act of violence, the six aviators off the coast of Greece and just this past weekend, the loss of one of our snowbirds in a tragic accident. There have been many beautiful tributes to all. This tribute focuses on the seven aviators. In August of 1941, John Gillespie McGee, an American pilot serving with the RCAF and stationed with the Digby Wings in Digby Nova Scotia, penned the poem High Flight. In his poem, McGee tries to capture the elation he felt soaring through the skies with his Spitfire. The poem has become a cherished text for all aviators throughout the world and is the official poem of the RCAF. My friend, Lee Holdridge who was John Denver’s conductor/arranger, wrote music to McGee’s poem and with the help of John Denver and Joe Henry adapted the poem to lyric and recorded the song in 1983. Lee was so kind to put together this arrangement for me to sing. It is dedicated to our Canadian aviators who were tragically taken far too soon. Gone but never forgotten.

It is in times of crisis, like the one we are all facing, where we need to forget our differences and come together as one! Support each other by doing the right thing and by heeding the advice of our incredible medical experts! We at RMH want to offer our thoughts and prayers to all those who are suffering and those who have lost a loved one during this challenging time. Please stay safe, social distance and as advised....stay home! Also, please support the frontli...ne workers in medical field who are risking their lives to keep us safe. The first responders, the clerks and staff at your local grocery store and all those who are working endless hours to keep our communities running and safe. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!....to borrow from one of John's songs with a slight change.... "You fill up our senses"! Thank you, with much love and gratitude please stay safe!

Rocky Mountain High Concert 06.06.2020

A Rocky Mountain High Christmas November 28 - 30th Kelowna Community Theatre www.kelownatickets.com... As we begin the weekend of Thanksgiving here in Canada, there are so many things to be thankful for. I look forward to celebrating with family and friends over the weekend. But for John Denver fans, October 12th is also a sad day. For back in 1997 on the 12th of October this amazing artist's life was lost....way too fast and way too soon. So for us as we celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving, we are thankful John left us with such an incredible legacy of amazing songs as a reminder of his talent, his humanity, his love for the earth, his generosity and kindness. John wasn't without his own struggles but the world just seemed a much better place with him here and with him singing his incredible songs. In today's world, I can't help thinking...we need more John Denver!!! So please join us as we celebrate John's incredible music with a man who was directly responsible for creating his arrangements, Mr. Lee Holdridge as he conducts the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, the RMH Band, guest artists Melina Schein and Justin Moore and a special surprise guest!!! It's fitting that I share with you a song that John wrote the music for. It was a poem by an RCAF pilot who killed at the beginning of the second world war. A beautiful song that is so fitting for today! Happy Thanksgiving Canada!!!! https://youtu.be/1xNGgWNRUf8
