The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) is making three recommendations to the Ontario Government to aid in energizing the housing market to prevent a housing crisis and support Ontario's economy. The Three Recommendations are: A Land Transfer Tax Holiday that would last for six months for all sales under $600,000. This would represent an average homebuyer saving of about $8,500. A Home Renovation Tax Credit. This would see that buyers would receive 15% back in expen...ditures of up to $100,000. The Creation of Community Economic Zones. In the last 10 years 87% of jobs created in Ontario have been in the Ottawa and GTA areas. Community opportunity zones would encourage investment, growth, and employment in underprivileged urban neighbourhoods, as well as in rural and Northern communities.
