Hi, I have had a few clients contact me about what is going on with mortgage rates. Firstly - the Bank Of Canada dropped their interest rates by .50%. The Big Banks, Credit Unions and other Lenders dropped their Prime Rate .50%. If you have a loan tied to Prime Rate - Variable Mortgage, HELOC, LOC, as well as some other Loans your interest rate just got lower and your payments just dropped. Secondly - Fixed Mortgage Rates are tied to the Canadian Bond Yield. Yields are down... and Fixed Mortgage Rates are decreasing as well. If you have a Fixed Rate Mortgage 3% or higher it may be a good time to break your mortgage and renew at a much lower rate.
