I can't believe how much support I encounter just walking through our neighborhood!! This idea of togetherness has been rattling around my mind as I'm sure it has been for many others. About what we can actively do to help bring an end to this strange world we've been living in. Now more than ever is a time for community, for thinking of the whole instead of the individual, for taking action. WE are the front line defense against this virus. We are the ones with the power ...to guide us back to a place of normality. Staying home. Social distancing. Keeping ourselves out of emergency rooms. It is our duty as community members both locally and globally to keep those at risk safe, to keep our health professionals safe. So at 7pm yes, cheer and shout and show your gratitude for all the amazing people working so hard to combat this crisis. But anytime on either side, remember that we as individuals have a chance to make a difference. Each of us can be heroes in this moment in history.

Happy International Women's Day! On this International Women’s Day, in addition to looking up to strong women, we can emulate, I encourage you to consider vulnerable women and how you can support them. The CBC is running a series on intimate partner violence, highlighting their struggles to find support. If you are in a position to offer assistance of some kind, please consider volunteering or offering financial support or resources to organizations in your community helpin...g women who are trying to make a better life for themselves. As women, we need to stand together. So often I see us divided: in competition with each other or judging each other. Please take a moment to reflect on where you can join with other women to make the world a better place in some small way. Link to the CBC series here: https://bit.ly/331qGXe

Today is Bell's 10th annual Let's Talk day! And today, I'd like to specifically focus on talking about men's mental health. Here are the facts: - Suicide is the leading cause of death in males aged 1049 and the rates are rapidly rising. - In Canada, 75% of suicides are men . So as we take time to talk and pull down the stigma of discussing mental health, as we check in on loved ones and ourselves. I ask you to take a minute to check in particularly with the men in your life.... The quiet ones, the thoughtful or reserved ones. Just check-in, because starting a conversation could save someone's life. . And please remember if you or someone you love ever needs help, there are so many resources out there for you. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need recommendations or help to find support. See more

A wonderful little video on the different kinds of intelligence. . Just because you didn't get A+ grades in school this does NOT mean you are not intelligent! It just means our systems are made for certain kinds of learning. . What kind of intelligence do you have?

"My spirit doesn't move like it did before" It's a new year, a new decade and yet - I'm sure we all feel very similar. Just because time keeps moving it doesn't mean we can always keep up. And we don't have to. This image of a burnt down pier fills me with memories, thoughts, challenges, inspiration and more. The idea of shedding our old skin because a clock told us to, is not how we grow. The only way we shed our past is once we have outgrown it, once we have accepted an...d moved forward. That is when we earn our new lives, new happiness, and start on new adventures. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to accept where we are and help to manifest where we want to be. What does this pier bring to your mind in the state of growth and rebirth?

With the launch of my new meditation series, I've been looking into what the actual studied benefits of meditation are. Professor John Durocher says, "Even a single hour of meditation appears to reduce anxiety and some of the markers for cardiovascular risk." . This is an amazing study to read if you are interested in the practice of mindfulness and how learning basic meditation skills and techniques can help you live a longer and more fulfilling life! . #Gratitude #MIndfulness #Meditation #Headspace

Why do you celebrate Remembrance Day? For me, it's a time to pay respect to those that have given their lives for us to live in freedom. It's a day to remember how much we have because of the sacrifices of these brave humans. It's also a reminder of what we have engaged in and experienced as a species and how we need to work together to move forward away from war-torn nations to a united world. So why do you celebrate Remembrance Day? #Lestweforget #Remember #Remembranceday

Why is it important to talk about mental health? Unlike other illnesses or injuries, mental health cannot be seen. It is easy to ignore and can often be misunderstood. The very nature of mental health concerns can lead people to isolate themselves. In combination with the continued stigma around mental health, people isolate further and may not access the help they need to improve their condition.... Speaking up about mental health improves awareness which increases understanding and decreases stigma which allows people experiencing mental health concerns to see their concerns as valid and gives them permission to seek the help they need. So check in on your loved one today, check in on your warriors and those struggling alike. Everyone needs support sometimes and a simple "how are you really doing today?" could make a world of difference.

I was out for a walk today and as I looked at the beauty around me I was overcome by a sense of gratitude. I felt grateful for the beautiful place I live, for the beautiful scenery around me, and for the time to enjoy it. . When life is hard, it can be challenging to summon a feeling of gratitude. Even if you are able to list things you are grateful for, you might find it difficult to connect with what it feels like to feel grateful. So if you are having a hard day and can't come up with anything to be grateful for, remember you are here and I am grateful for you.
