When it comes to battling stress and burnout I find that running has been a life-saver in my life. Running started as a low-cost way to get exercise when I was in my teens and twenties. After I had children it was a way to exercise where I could bring them along in the running stroller and I didn’t need to coordinate with anyone else. Somewhere along the way, I started enjoying it. I have run several 10ks and 3 half-marathons. When I run my brain relaxes. It can wan...der wherever it wants and all I have to do is keep my feet moving. Listening to music when I run (in safe places where I don’t have to worry about traffic) is bliss. I enjoy the scenery and feel good knowing I’m taking care of myself. I know not everyone is a runner but is there anything you're doing for yourself right now? I'd love to hear how you're grounding yourself these days! See more

Question the voice that tells you you're not good enough. Question if your standards are realistic or unrealistic for where you are at. At the end of the day if you did your best, working within what resources, energy and time you were given - then you have done the best you can. And that is an incredible thing to celebrate.

THREE questions to ask yourself this Black Friday: 1. Is this something that will add value to my life? 2. Do I need this? Or am I buying it because it's on sale? 3. Will this purchase build crap in my closet or memories in my heart?... As the sales hit our inboxes, Facebook feeds and every window we pass just take a moment before pulling out your card or cash. Shopping and gift-giving can be a beautiful thing but make sure anything you are bringing into your life will give you back value. Not just end up in a closet or basement in a few month's time. Remember experiences, like baking, crafting, or little safe adventures build memories, and what is more powerful than having experiences with yourself and those you love? What's been your favorite gift you've ever received that didn't come from a store?

I am hearing the refrain of exhaustion and anxiety repeatedly from clients and friends this week. I think we need to be patient and forgiving with ourselves right now. Everything takes extra effort. The world is so different right now. We need to remember new things every day and that takes energy. Energy we would rather be spending doing fun things. Energy we don’t feel like we have for fun things. And we don’t have the option to do a lot of the fun things we used to, or we ...can’t do them in the same way. To figure out how to do them under our current circumstances takes energy we don’t have. So we need to slow down and make space for creativity and inspiration. A tall order right now but essential. Find ways to ‘lift your mood’. Find ways to reset so you can let go and just breathe. Anyone else feeling this way lately? How have you been combating it? I'd love to hear your suggestions below! This morning, returning home from a dog walk as the world began to take shape for the day, I was struck by the beauty of the yellow leaves on the maple trees in the foreground and the mountains behind. I often find myself feeling grateful for the city in which I live. Vancouver can be incredibly beautiful. During Covid especially I have felt grateful to be able to get outside in this city where we are surrounded by nature. Having the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural ...world around me has helped keep me grounded during this incredibly stressful time. Focusing on small details of nature is a practice I've found calming. Like the intricate lines and grooves of the bark on of this tree. Just taking time to notice, appreciate, and be present - even if it's just for a moment. Community What's one thing you've been grateful for during COVID times? See more
