A simple gesture, the simple task, the ultimate reflection of gratitude and appreciation..the wearing of a poppy. A fixed symbol of remembrance and respect, the poppy is a visual pledge honouring those who dedicated their lives for a better tomorrow. Every time you make a donation to the Poppy Fund, you are essentially making a contribution back into your community. Monies raised in the Poppy Fund are carefully and properly allocated to required Veteran services and assist...ance, local hospitals, community funded organizations and Cadet programs, to name a few. Every time you wear a poppy, you are paying respect. Every time a Veteran sees you wearing a poppy- they know their sacrifices and efforts are acknowledged, and the memory of those lost, are not forgotten or taken for granted. As we approach the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, Romby’s encourages those who are able, to donate generously to the volunteers standing behind the poppy boxes. We encourage you to find relief in their efforts, providing you with the freedoms we enjoy today, but please do not ever forget. To the lost sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, grandfathers and grandmothers, the childhood friend, the neighbourhood acquaintance, you are forever in our hearts. In honour of those who we cannot thank personally-we chose to donate directly to the Poppy Fund of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, in the amount of $1111.00. With gratitude and respect, we will never forget.

Some clarification for customers confused by the new rules.... We were also very confused and had many questions for Dr Hirji after last Thursday's announcement. We directly emailed Dr Hirji with our concerns and he kindly took the time to respond on Sunday night and thanked us for our 'respectful feedback'. Although we do feel that clearer clarification is needed for restaurants and the public ; we can say that you can dine with someone who does not live in your household if... they are a support to your mental health. So for example, a couple that are in a relationship but do not live together could dine together as they are an essential support for each other. There are other examples of this, in cases that a friend or family member could meet with a friend for dinner or drinks. They do not want people who live alone to be isolated further. We will be following the guidelines and adapting as the new laws evolve because at the end of the day we all want this to be over and to be able to rip down those plastic shields, throw away our masks and have a massive celebration.
