Ron MacInnis Painting 05.10.2020

Ron took a trip down to Swift Current last week to do a job for a very special client, my mom. As you can see, the peeling on the windows was pretty extensive. Ron scraped and sanded everything before dapping, priming and finally adding a couple of coats of paint. Now her trim will be protected and looking fab for years.

We figure it’s time to properly introduce ourselves! We’re Ron and Amanda MacInnis. Ron grew up on the East coast and worked across Canada for a few years before landing in Saskatoon in 2010 where he met me. We got married in 2013 and bought a home in Waldheim in 2016. We have 3 amazing kids, 2 dogs, a cat and a bird AND our first grandbaby is due early next year!! We decided early in the year that it was time to start our own painting business. 2020 being... well, 202...0, we had to wait until June to get going but we have been blessed with amazing clients ever since! We’ve both worked with and for companies in the past that didn’t focus enough on quality or customer service. As such, we’ve made it our priority to keep our clients informed, deliver quality workmanship and keep our project sites clean. If you’ve read this far you’re a trooper! Thank you! See more

During and after of another project at the lake! Our client’s neighbours saw Ron’s work and asked him to stop by at their place next to paint their entry doors. For these doors we decided to try a product from Benjamin Moore called Grand Entrance. What a fantastic product for exterior doors! We’ll definitely be using this product again.

Ron has been super busy finishing off some exterior bookings over the last couple of weeks and we finally got some time to take some pictures. We brushed and rolled this deck with Sherwin-Williams Deck and Dock Coating. Being a stone’s throw from the lake, this should help protect their deck for a long time! Our clients made a great pick with SW 2849 Westchester Gray - it really makes the deck stand out! We’re so impressed with this product and the fact it can be tinted any colour.

Often associated with Autumn and Halloween, orange is our Feature Friday colour of the week. What happens when you combine the energy of red with the optimism of yellow? Of course... you get the world's friendliest hue! Due to its vibrancy and energy, orange is great for an exercise room. In most cases, however, it can seem too overwhelming so when choosing a bright orange it’s best used sparingly.... Want to use something throughout a larger space? A light orange with creamy peach undertones, such as Benjamin Moore’s fruit-inspired shade Tooty Fruity is a great way to add color to a space without overwhelming it. #interiordesign #painting #yxepainting #yxe #yxebusiness #homeimprovement #updateyourhome #yxedesign #housepainter #housepainters #paintingcompany #renovation #construction #instagood #paintinganddecorating #decorating #contractor See more

One more exterior, one more happy family! (Guess who forgot to take before pics and had to rely on Google Street View? ) Our clients picked Sherwin Williams Pure White (SW7005) to update their two-toned blue house and WOW! What a transformation! Before we arrived our clients painted their vinyl window frames black and their door a light teal which tied everything together perfectly.

Happy Friday!!! Today we’re featuring the neutral palette. All-neutral schemes fall in and out of fashion but the good news for homeowners seeking a richer ambiance in their favorite living spaces is that neutral paint colors for the home are finally getting their proper due. In fact, neutrals are taking over the painting world, making a splash in bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, foyers and other areas of the home. When used correctly and with a designer’s tou...ch, neutral paints can be powerful additions to any living space. They bring richness and sophistication to any space without requiring too much intensity. Being understated, yet dramatic, is a key component of any neutral! Safe as they may be, their virtue lies in their flexibility: add color to liven things up; subtract it to calm things down. Suitable in any space, neutral colours are, in my opinion, timeless. #featurefriday #interiordesign #painting #yxepainting #yxe #yxebusiness #homeimprovement #updateyourhome #yxedesign #housepainter #housepainters #paintingcompany #renovation #construction #instagood #paintinganddecorating #decorating #contractor See more

Feature Friday again! This week we’re going bold and bright with #yellow! Vincent Van Gogh said: How wonderful yellow is. It stands for the sun. Considered the strongest colour, psychologically, adding yellow to your walls gives the room a warm, energetic and cheerful feeling and is even said to give of positive vibes and increase metabolism.... Looking to add yellow to your space? Select a color scheme that blends well from room to room. Choose colors in the same temperatures, tints, shades or tones so that they blend well together. If you’ve chosen a bright yellow you’ll want to stick to an accent wall rather than painting all four walls and tie it in with an accent chair or throw pillows. When choosing a full-room colour, opt for tints, shades or muted yellows for a subtle color statement. As a warm color, yellow advances into the space, unless it's shaded with black, tinted with white or muted with brown or gray.

Last week we completed this upstairs/downstairs repaint in Warman. This busy family includes kids that love basement hockey . We took care of some puck marks and dents in the walls before painting. Our clients chose Sherwin William’s Repose Grey (SW7015) and we absolutely love this colour! We used SW Super Paint with a satin finish and it turned out beautifully!

This week’s Feature Friday is a grey-t one! Although once thought of as cold and institutional, grey has come a long way in terms of design and decor. Grey can create a warm scheme as easily as a cool one; channel edgy modern and charming country; be calm and soothing or lively and energetic. As grey doesn’t have a ‘personality’ of its own, paired with any other colour, it allows that colour to be visible whilst grey takes a back seat. Given it is virtually absent of col...our, it draws no attention to itself, it keeps its distance, remaining separate. Some people find it depressing and in others it evokes a lack of confidence, fear of exposure, hiding. Love it or hate it, it looks like grey is here to stay. What are your thoughts on using grey in the home?

Feature Friday! Today we’re looking at using various blue hues throughout the home. From deep royal to a light teal, the colour blue can bring a sense of calm or a vibrant energy into your space. Blue has long been an accent colour but recently it’s made its way on to larger pieces such as feature walls and kitchen cabinets. HGTV has this take on blue kitchens: when lighter shades of blue are used, they can create a crisp, clean look and are recommended for walls, cabinet...s, or even the ceiling. Which is your favorite blue and where would you use it?

We’re a couple of days from completing our latest project but it’s been a long few weeks and we’re super happy with how it’s coming along so we’re sharing some pics already. We are loving the resilience exterior paint from Sherwin Williams, especially with the wet weather we’ve been having the last couple of weeks. And look at that coverage!! Our client chose the Sherwin Williams colour Dormer Brown (SW 7521) and we switched the trim from cream to white to best accent their new siding colour.

We finished this awesome little repaint this week! We couldn't be happier with how this turned out (except, of course, if the rain hadn’t slowed us down ). The client's picked colours from Sherwin-Williams that chased the blues away and updated the house beautifully. We were able to take care of some problem areas and keep their home protected from the elements.
