On the winter Solstice we turned 11 years old. The shortest day of the year also means the days are getting longer now...like a new beginning where all potential lies. Even if its measured in tiny minutes We look back in these times with such gratitude. All of the people and stars that aligned (not just Jupiter and Saturn) to bring us here. This year these feelings are more powerful than ever. Facing so much together in spite of our collective worries...we feel even mo...re, a collective love which springs hope. Almost a year ago we all talked of being in this together....279 days later...we have walked it together. Only because of that have we been able to be here for one more crazy trip around the sun. So today we send love and hope and deep gratitude for the blessings of a community. From our whole beautiful team to all of you and yours... We send much much love and most of all..HOPE. Crunch time! Shop in stores or Delivery Dec 23! We have you covered. Something for everyone this year. Lots of beautiful tea and coffee making accessories. How could we have ever imagined how much love and kindness we would receive because of it. So lucky are we!! Happiest of birthdays to you Jay! Someone's happy about #internationaldogday ! In celebration we want to celebrate rescue dogs! The first 3 lovely faces were helped out by all the volunteers at our local @redemptionpaws and the last one...well...couldn't resist sharing how our own rescue dog shows her gratitude every day! All of our shelters and rescue folks would love to remind you of how many amazing dogs are just waiting for adoption and a safe and loving second chance! They are run on donations and volunteers so for all the people that support these initiatives we celebrate you too!! King Street is going to be open until 7pm now for all those folks at home that need an excuse to leave the air-conditioning.....What better excuse than handmade ice cream! Our friends at Summers are a Toronto family business that make this incredible ice cream daily!! Come by and give it a whirl...besides Ice cream makes you happy...science says! (we have a vegan option too!)

We've got you covered! Just a reminder that today we have to all cover up inside to help protect each other. To help everyone with this transition we have some disposable masks that we can provide if you don't have one yet. (At our cost) ... We have also been making reusable masks with Evelyn, one of our long time regulars. We give all proceeds to cystic fibrosis research. Someone VERY close to us has CF and since covering up is the kindest thing we can do for him Evelyn has been making REUSABLE masks for us since we opened and Nickle 9 distillery has switched gears to help get hand sanitizer to people too. HAPPY PRIDE As part of #ShowYourPride we felt lucky to be able to joined our community in celebrating as they unfurled the flag normally carried by MCC every year in Toronto Pride Parade. This represented one day in a 30 day challenge to do one small act everyday to "celebrate pride, strengthen community, and ensure human rights for all"

Happy Happy Pride Toronto! Papa Rooster painted this beautiful wall for us a year ago and its a daily reminder of the diversity that makes our city and planet so wonderful. We also wanted to tell people that even though our shops have re-opened we are still happy to deliver coffee and other goods to those that just don't feel ready or safe to come back yet. We understand, and we support you. If we find that the orders dwindle we may just shift it to one day a week....but we wanted to let you know we got you! We did it! WE ARE OPEN. What a ride the past 76 days has been. ( but who's counting! ) ... We don't take for granted for a moment just how lucky we are to be here...healthy and blessed by so many people that have enabled us to be in the position to open our doors again at all three locations. Albeit in a very new way it is a blessing that we have all been able to arrive here safely, together We need to thank our team that, when asked if they were ready to come back to work..enthusiastically put up their hands. We are honored that they trusted us to get them back safely and to do everything we can to offer the same to our community and friends. We are here because of the outpouring of support that all of YOU guys have given us from the moment the doors closed. The texts...the shout outs...the sharing you have done with so many of your friends...the on line orders...the mystery wine bread and flower drop offs... the write ups... the thumbs up when you saw us cleaning to get ready... its been (and I'm sure will continue to be)..quiet the "adventure " It truly takes a village and in spite of so much tragedy our gift from this has been to witness that people really really are good. "All you need is faith, trust, and a little pixie dust!" We set a goal to re-open June 1 Snails pace..to stay safe.... We did a 4 hour pop yesterday and we wanted to thank everyone that came! The customers that jumped in on the fly.. moved planters....directed traffic....smiled with us through the lumpy bits...the neighbors that ran us lunch when they saw we couldn't stop...the customer that left us a bottle of bubbles in our drop off bin with a note.."help for the stressful days"...and the patient souls that helped fill up this box with sales chits in a few short hours. It gives us hope! Love letter deliver day tomorrow! . We have enjoyed dropping off surprise care packages to unsuspecting friends, family, teachers, co workers, that older quiet neighbor that doesn't seem to have anyone close. Its been the gas in our tank for the last few weeks. . If people's heart warming reactions to these small delivery surprises are any sign....folks may be feeling a little more alone than we know. These deliveries have been a great heart warmer and so is simply saying... helloooo (in your best mom voice) or giving warm smiling eyes to strangers when we pass them on the street. Try it!!! There was a time, not so long ago, before the land of reservations and expensive brunches when Mothers day was celebrated with kids surprising Mom with breakfast in bed. Often consisting of eggs.... .eggshells...and a half bottle of ketchup! Hand made cards that had been worked on for hours...and a simple flower pulled from somewhere. . And.....in the same tradition...Moms everywhere would crunch their way through those breakfasts with great enthusiasm. Leaving us all feeling like we had done a world of right by her.
