Happy Monday Friends Did you partake in any joyful movement this weekend? And by joyful movement I mean approaching physical activity in a way that emphasizes pleasure and enjoyment? I think by now we all know that exercise is beneficial for our physical and mental health, however that does not mean we have to be going to the gym or on a run every day to get the positive rewards of movement. With joyful movement, any type of movement is valid. Whether you went skiing with yo...ur kids, rode your horse or had a dance party in the living room you probably felt the mental shift that takes place when you got your body moving. Just by engaging in physical activity you can experience a reduction in anxiety and depression, as well as improved mood and self-esteem. Pretty great bonus if you ask me! Yesterday my joyful movement was fumbling around on skates and getting some much-needed sunshine with my fiancé and pups. Positive Affirmations I won’t lie When I started practicing positive affirmations, I couldn’t take myself seriously. I would say the affirmations to myself giggle and move on. I didn’t feel like I was getting anything from it however I persevered and continued on trying to at least tell myself one positive affirmation a day. I had a goal. I wanted to stop talking to or about myself negatively and start seeing myself from a different perspective. I am enough... my body is beautiful just the way it is I am safe and calm And so on After a while, I realized that my self-doubt was slowly decreasing, and my confidence was growing stronger. I was becoming gentler with myself and not bringing myself down by pointing out flaws, but instead looking at all the things that were going well for me. My mindset was shifting. Positive affirmations have been a part of my journey of building a better relationship with myself and I continue to practice them daily because I know they have made an impact. Do me a favour. Next time you start getting down on yourself, point out one thing that is positive or one thing that you want to be true for you.
