To our Roots community, family and friends, Our space has always meant to serve our community. We pride ourselves in sharing good times and great company together with all of you. But our hearts are aching and overwhelmed with emotions. There are too many words yet not enough to express our feelings. We fear saying the wrong things or upsetting or offending others, but ultimately, we cannot sit back in silence and be complacent. We are choosing to use this platform to speak ...up. We can't fight for small businesses, if we don't fight for the empowerment of Black business owners. We can't hire and care for our Black employees, if we don't protect Black lives everywhere. We can't be there for women employees, if we aren't standing up specifically for Black women. We can't advocate for parents, if we aren't standing with Black mothers and fathers who fear for their childrens lives. As people of colour, we stand in solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters in this fight. As a small business, we stand with you. We stand with those who are fighting against injustice. With those who are dedicated to seeing change in this world. We may not have the leadership to get us there, but it’s the communities likes ours that can make an impact. Be the change you want to see in this world. We are better when we are inclusive and accepting in diversity because beauty comes in all shapes and COLOUR. We need to push for social change, push for representation, push for tolerance, acceptance, JUSTICE AND EQUALITY! We are all human. We are all equal. We all have to do better TOGETHER.
