21010 Waba Creek 18 x 24. $430 I was having trouble sourcing canvases, and then suddenly Art Factory in Renfrew had a fabulous sale. So I put in my order, packed a lunch, and we drove 2 hours on scenic back roads to do a curbside pickup. The sun was shining, the snow was clean, and I took this opportunity to stop at Pakenham, Blakeney Rapids, and along the road to Burnstown, to grab some great winter pictures. This is the first one of Waba Creek.

21009 Winter Light and Shadows 24 x 18. $430 I decided a temporary break from streams was in order :-) I attacked this canvas with larger brushes and a more stylized approach. I had hoped to avoid the use of detail brushes, but the branches disagreed with me :-) It was a good learning exercise.

21008 Bottomlands II 18 x 24. $430 I did go back and do another painting from the same photo, but cropped into the right hand section. It's a stronger composition. The larger size allowed for more detailed snow and reflections.

When I was finished Bottomlands,, I realized there was another (and perhaps better) way to crop the image. Another painting, for another day. (Click on picture to see full image)

21007 Bottomlands 20 x 24. $480. Bottomlands are low lying areas that flood in the spring. I'm always amazed by the green water, caused by tannins and suspended sediment. I liked the way the greens were complemented by the golden grasses and the purples of the dogwood, and the crisp white of the snow.
