ERLEUCHT AUCH MEINE FINSTRE SINNEN music - JS Bach, (Weinachts-Oratorium BWV 248:5) Taylor Gibbs, baritone Christopher Dawes, harpsichord... Erleucht auch meine finstre Sinnen, Erleuchte mein Herze Durch der Strahlen klaren Schein! Dein Wort soll mir die hellste Kerze In allen meinen Werken sein; Dies lässet die Seele nichts Böses beginnen. Illumine my dark thoughts as well, illumine my heart through the rays of your clear brilliance! Your word shall be the brightest candle for me in all my doings; this will never let my soul initiate evil.

THE FLOW OF TEARS text - Charles C Cooketune ~ Marley Vale 12.12.12.12 by Charles C Cooke 1. The flow of tears that washed the Blessed Saviour's feet: a stream of love from deep within a sinner's heart.... What balm of tenderness expressed without reserve! A faith-filled testament of honour to impart. 2. The flow of oil poured out upon Your sacred head: a sweet anointing of the One prepared to die. An act of worship in the annals of all time to be remembered, and our Lord to glorify. 3. O woman bowed, you've captured our humanity: the longing of the broken spirit to be whole. You utterly revealed with hushed, unspoken words a penitential heart as thankful as is bold. 4. O Lord, may we with single mind fall at your feet most reverently with humbleness and wondrous praise. The fountatin of your blood that flowed at Calvary has washed away the sin enslaving all our ways.

A HYMN FOR SAINT CECILIA (1960) text - Ursula Vaughan Williams music - Herbert Howells Sing for the morning’s joy, Cecilia, sing,... in words of youth and praises of the Spring, walk the bright colonnades by fountains’ spray, and sing as sunlight fills the waking day; till angels, voyaging in upper air, pause on a wing and gather the clear sound into celestial joy, wound and unwound, a silver chain, or golden as your hair. Sing for your loves of heaven and of earth, in words of music, and each word a truth; marriage of heart and longings that aspire, a bond of roses, and a ring of fire. Your summertime grows short and fades away, terror must gather to a martyr’s death; but never tremble, the last indrawn breath remembers music as an echo may. Through the cold aftermath of centuries, Cecilia’s music dances in the skies; lend us a fragment of the immortal air, that with your choiring angels we may share, a word to light us thro’ time-fettered night, water of life, or rose of paradise, so from the earth another song shall rise to meet your own in heaven’s long delight.

How many stars in your hair, Immaculate Virgin ! Virgin, who knows the wishes Of a troubled soul ! Your coat the color of the heavens, O flower queen, How splendid and graceful, O chaste Mary ! How beautiful are your sacred feet, blessed by the abyss, When on the sea you rescue a soul that suffers !

LORD, WHAT IS MAN text - Bishop of Lincoln Henry Fuller music - Henry Purcell Charles Fowler, tenor... Christopher Dawes, piano Lord, what is man, lost man, That Thou shouldst be so mindful of him? That the Son of God forsook his glory, His abode. To become a poor, tormented man! The Deity was shrunk into a span, And that for me, O wondrous love, for me. Reveal ye glorious spirits, when you knew the way the Son of God took to renew lost man, Your vacant places to supply; Blest spirits tell which did excel, which was more prevalent, your joy or your astonishment. That man should be assum'd into the Deity, That for a worm, a God should die. Oh! oh! for a quill, drawn from your wing To write the praises of eternal love; Oh! oh! for a voice like yours, to sing That anthem here, which once you sung above. Hallelujah.

Er heißt Jesus Christ, der Herre Zebaoth, Und ist kein andrer Gott, das Feld muss er behalten. (B) Alles, was von Gott geboren, ist zum Siegen auserkoren. ---- (B) All that which of God is fathered is for victory intended. (S) With our own might is nothing done, we face so soon destruction. Richard Elliott (1957 - ) has served as Principal Organist to the Choir of the Mormon Tabernacle, Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah since 1991. In addition to accompanying ... the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and giving recitals he is a prolific com- poser of music for the organ. The hymn 'The God of Abraham Praise' dates from the 18th century. Its author Thomas Olivers adapted the Doxology of the Yigdal, a 14th century Hebrew prayer into English text and metre, and created the tune 'Leoni' based on the Hebrew melody, naming it for Cantor Myer Lyon, who sang it to him

BETTER IS ONE DAY words based on Psalm 84 & music by Matt Redman sung and played by Christopher Dawes How lovely is Your dwelling place,... O Lord Almighty; My soul longs and even faints for You. For here my heart is satisfied Within Your presence: I sing beneath the shadow of Your wings. Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere. One thing I ask, and I would seek: To see Your beauty; To find You in the place Your glory dwells. Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere My heart and flesh cry out For You, the Living God - Your Spirit's water for my soul. I've tasted and I've seen - Come once again to me: I will draw near to You. Better is one day Than thousands elsewhere.

SHOW YOUR FACE text - John L Bell (Iona Community) music - Scottish traditional, arr Chroí The Word of Life and Lord of Love, God's chosen and our chooser,... Has made his home among the poor and sided with the loser. REFRAIN: Then show your face and take your place, And share your time and treasure where no one less than Christ the King takes refuge and brings pleasure. Unqualified and out of work, in simple clothes he dresses; He dines with those the world discards, His love their hurt caresses. He speaks of God in children's terms, He tells domestic stories, He walks to heav'n on earth's byways, religious folk He worries. A fish, a loaf, a seed, a coin, a cup, a cross, a silence, An empty tomb, an upstairs room - by these He conquers violence. In pain, redunancy and loss, in stigma and rejection, The Son of God is present yet, inspiring resurrection.

I LOOKED AND BEHOLD A WHITE CLOUD text - Revelation 14:14,15; John 4:35-36; Matthew 13:39 music - Healey Willan I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.... And another angel came into the temple crying with a loud voice unto him that sat upon the cloud, "Thrust in thy sickle, and reap, for the time has come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe." Lift up your eyes and look upon the fields, for they are white even unto harvest. And he that reapest receiveth wages unto life eternal. The harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. Amen.
