At Rosedale Tennis Club Board meeting today, it was unanimously decided to close Rosedale Tennis Club pursuant to the City of Hamilton protocol in an effort to reduce COVID-19 exposure. This is in an effort to slow the rate of COVID-19 in Hamilton and to protect vulnerable populations of our society, including seniors and individuals with compromised immune systems. The Club will be closed effective tonight (Sunday March 15, 2020) at 9:00 PM until Sunday April 5th 2020. As a ...result, all booked courts will be cancelled until further notice. We will update the membership prior to March 30th of any potential changes. We will continue to monitor the situation and will advise of any changes. Our website and social media accounts will be updated and we will send out emails as necessary. As of today, we still do NOT have any known members or employees of the club that have symptoms of COVID-19 or have actually contracted the virus. Rosedale's own 14 year old, Ilya Ziborov, has qualified for Under 16 Provincials. After saving 3 match points in his first match and recovering to win 4-6, 6-4, 13-11 in a deciding match tie-break he won his second match with ease 6-1, 6-2. It’s the Annual General Meeting at Rosedale Tennis Club this morning! We have a great board overseeing things here and our highest membership numbers ever. Talking about sustainability for the club and looking toward to possible Commonwealth Games here in 2030. Vince Ormond’s humour turned the meeting into a bit of a roast for the outgoing board members, Anne Hill, Dave McCann and Barbara McFarland. Mike Kool reports on our awesome young players winning too many trophies for our shelves!
