Patience Everyone. Both Bowls Canada and the OLBA are working on Return to Play protocols and the Roadmap to Return to Play but we need input from our insurance... provider and other sources. Keep in mind that some places like Toronto cannot open before July 2 since the city will not issue permits to the clubs before that date. There will be regional differences all across Ontario. Wait until you hear from us before going to your greens. https://nationalpost.com//covid-19-ontario-to-announce-reo

Emailed to our members yesterday: I had a lovely newsletter prepared regarding the upcoming season and our 100th anniversary celebration. However the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting us much more than we anticipated even 2 weeks ago when we held our last board meeting and set up a Covid-19 response team. I’m now not sure what our season will look like. Yesterday, Scotland announced that all lawn bowling events were cancelled for the season. The OLBA annual meeting on April 17 h...as been cancelled. It’s still 2 months until the season normally begins, and we aren’t making any decision yet, but it is possible that we will need to cancel events here as well, perhaps the season. Stay tuned, we’ll be following the advice of Public Health. Meanwhile, we’ll take a look at the budget to see how we can best balance things out. We will still have expenses that need to be paid, such as taxes, insurance, etc., while our revenue from group visits, tournaments, and maybe memberships may be limited or non-existent. And please reach out to other members and stay in touch. If you need an email or phone number just contact me by phone or email. So here are some things to do with your free time if you need a bowls fix! 1. Visit the OLBA website olba.ca and explore, especially the Give it a Try Section, e.g. https://www.olba.ca/how-the-game-is-played.html 2. Same with Bowls Canada bowlscanada.com 3. Watch youtube (youtube.com) videos of bowls matches, just type lawn bowls in the search box at the top. 4. Read the Rules of the Sport of Bowls available online here: http://www.burlingtonlbc.org/crystalmark3.pdf Keep smiling and keep healthy and look for an update in a month or so. Linda

Happy New Year! 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of our club, so we're posting a bit of our history. Originally the club was called Owen Sound North and a plan for greens was already well underway by Jan. 1, 1920:... Tues. Aug. 26, 1919 p. 3 Owen Sound Sun Times O.S. North Mr. R. J. Layton, with the assistance of friends is preparing a beautiful bowling green on the north side of his store and residence, 4th Ave W + 19th St. NW corner. Ed Roseborough, RJ's much younger brother-in-law--only 26 at the time, was the other man behind the venture. He and his wife Maud lived on the street behind RJ (Robert John) and wife Nettie (Ed's older sister--who was 25 years older). Excuse the quality of the photos. The originals are hanging in our clubhouse and these snapshots do not do them justice.
