Just a reminder that all Valentine's Day cards should be sent to school this Friday, February 5th, so that they can be handed out next Friday on February 12th. As per Dr. Atwal press conference today he indicated: Ask children not to lick envelopes and use proper hand hygiene when preparing them... Wash/sanitize hands before and after touching valentines at home and at school Teachers will hand out valentines to avoid multiple people handing out at the same time and to keep distancing in place. Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy New Year and welcome back. Tomorrow is January 4th, 2021. It is a Day 5 on our BLSD- RLG 6 day school cycle calendar. ... It is a non Kindergarten day. Our K students will be here on January 5th. High school students that are in Cohort 4 will have regular classes tomorrow beginning at 9:00 a.m. We all know that our grade 7-12 students will be on line learning remotely for the next 2 school weeks. All Grade 7-12 students are expected to follow their regular school day as if they were sitting in a chair at RLG. There are some exceptions to this rule, and these students have been notified of their changes prior to leaving for the Christmas break. If you have concerns, please contact your teachers and we will help get everything sorted out. We look forward to seeing our Grade 1-6 students tomorrow.

At Ross L. Gray School we've had to make many changes in the way we do things this year. Some of these changes have meant that fewer parents/families are in the building for fun activities like Stay n' Play. But we've got a plan. Every month we will send a newsletter to families with children who are 0 to 5 years old. Attached is the first newsletter. It was sent home to RLG families today. If you are interested in receiving the newsletter or any of the materials, please contact Adriane Culleton at [email protected] Page 1

Are you missing the Olympics? The Olympics were supposed to be held in Tokyo this summer, but they were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic! Do you know who invented the Olympic Games...? Yep, the Greeks, in 776 BCE! To wrap up our study of Ancient Greece, and since many of us are isolated with our families at this time, the Grade 7/8 Social Studies class has created some Olympic-style events to keep you busy this week. Please post your photos of your families enjoying these fun family games! Please e-mail [email protected] if you would like a pdf of this jpeg file.

Track and Field Day Information. Video will be posted early tomorrow....trying to get the weather and a few more teachers to cooperate. Ross L Gray Track and Field Day 2020 Hello everyone, ... Obviously, we are unable to have a traditional track and field day for the students this year. We thought it would be nice to have the students participate virtually on Tuesday, June 16th. We have put together some events for your students to complete, if possible, as well as some new activities created by members of the Grade 7/8 Social Studies class. (These will be posted separately on our Facebook Page) Compete against yourself, your sibling or you parents. The 50 Meter dash will also have a video on the Facebook page where you can test your speed against some members of the teaching staff! Event #1: 50 Meter Dash (Teacher Challenge) - Measure out 50 meters and complete the distance as fast as you can. - If you have a stopwatch or other timing device, you can record your time and compare it to the teachers! Event #2: Standing Long Jump - Jump from a standing position and land on two feet. - Measure from point of takeoff to the closest point, eg. Heel of foot. Event 3: Paper Airplane Javelin - Build your best paper airplane and see how far you can make it fly. - Try to perfect your design after testing it. - Tip: Throw with the wind for more distance. Event 4: Ball Throw - Try to throw a ball as far and straight as you can! Event 5: Build your Own Obstacle Course - Use whatever you have around at home to build the most interesting course you can think of. - If you can, share pictures or videos of your design with us!
