Rossland Food Bank 11.12.2020

The Rossland Food Bank would like to remind our clients and all other residents of Rossland that we are open and ready to help those in need during the current coronavirus pandemic. We understand that some of you may be hesitant or nervous to come to the Food Bank at the moment, but we want you to know that we are taking every possible precaution to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our customers and volunteers. Some of the measures we are taking include: - The only peo...ple inside the Food Bank building at the moment are a small number of healthy volunteers who are washing their hands on arrival and wearing gloves for the duration of their shifts. Face masks are also going to be distributed to volunteers to wear as of next week. - Shoppers are being stopped from coming inside the building, bringing their own re-usable bags or touching anything other than the clipboard and pen to fill out their shopping lists. - Clipboards and pens are sanitized between each customer to reduce the risk of cross contamination. - Other surfaces (door handles, tables, light switches) are being sanitized at the start and end of each Food Bank opening. - Lines have been painted on the ground outside the building so that clients can wait at an appropriate distance apart from each other. We are doing everything we can to prioritize your health and safety during this time while still maintaining the ability to help those who need it. Please remember that we are here for you and do not want people missing out on a valuable service because of this pandemic!

We received a letter from Carol Vanelli Worosz, Community Engagement Leader, Teck Metals Ltd., Trail Operations which in part reads to support you with your important work with the community, we are pleased to provide you with a donation of $3,000. Thank you Trail Operations for your thoughtfulness and generosity We’ve had an amazing response from individuals, organizations and businesses offering to volunteer and/or donate to our Food Bank. We are overwhelmed and grateful that we are in a position to be able to remain open and continue to help those affected by financial hardship and more particularly during these unsettling and uncertain times. Thank you from all the volunteers and directors

Our volunteers have always been grateful and appreciative for the ongoing support we have received from the City of Rossland over the years. Once again they have reached out to assist us. Thank you, Mayor Moore for delivering $500 to help us meet the anticipated needs created by the COVID-19 crisis and to Ryan at City Works for promptly providing measurement markers around the Food Bank so social distancing requirements are met
