Rossmere Lanes Christmas Party announcement!

One week until Christmas Day. Hard to believe that our Rossmere Lanes bowling community has been not been together since October. This was always such a great time for league Christmas parties, luncheons and sharing family favourites with each other. I have a few details to finalize but I will be inviting all Rossmere Lanes league bowlers and their families to a holiday event. Plans will be announced very soon on this page and emails will be sent out to everyone. Please share with your teammates and I ask everyone to keep the evening (not that much else is going on, lol) of Sunday December 27 open for the Rossmere Lanes holiday party. Talk soon!

First day of YBC tomorrow! Thank you to all that have registered for the new season. It will look and feel very different tomorrow but we will all figure it out. Please attend for the shift time that was your first choice. Looking forward to seeing all the Rossmere families, back at bowling.

After much consideration, YBC bowling will be playing tomorrow, Saturday October 31. We will have our Halloween fun day with the planned 3-6-9 event. The protocols that have been in place will continue. I will leave the decision of attending to each individual family. Families that choose to attend, see you tomorrow. Families that choose to not attend, I hope to see you soon. With the new restrictions being implemented on Monday, I will be closing Rossmere Lanes on Sunday November 1st. The bowling centre will reopen as soon as the new restrictions are lifted so we can continue to offer a safe activity to our league and open play customers. It is time to take care of each other and be supportive to the ones that need it the most. Jamie

Our YBC windup is planned for Monday August 31 and Tuesday September 1. Bowlers are required to sign up for their preferred day and shift. Please call the centre to confirm you shift. 204-334-3627.

As of Monday, September 28th, Manitoba Health Authorities has increased the Restart Manitoba Pandemic Response System to Orange: RESTRICTED in the Winnipeg Health Region. Orange: Restricted Community transmission of COVID-19 is occurring. However, the virus is being transmitted at levels that public health and the health system can manage. New clusters are more common, but can be controlled through testing and contact tracing. The health care system is able to manage COVID...-19 case levels. Code orange requires everyone to wear a mask in all indoor public spaces, meaning as of Monday, all of our customers must wear a mask when entering the bowling center. With all of the protocols that we have in place will allow us to continue our league season and offer public play times for your family to enjoy some recreation time together. Group limits are in place and social distancing protocols are enforced. We thank you for doing your part in keeping everyone safe and healthy.

Check it out. Five weeks of work and we can invite everyone back to the lanes. Reopening tomorrow, Thursday August 20th, noon till 10pm. Reservations are recommended. We are so happy to show everyone all the completed work.

More progress. T-panels and approach panels are pegged and seamed in place. Changed 3 range finder panels as well. Next week will be the fill sections in between each lane. Lots of fine cutting, putting in the remaining screws and then the dowels.

Very productive so far this week. All the LSL has been cut, drilled and screwed down in place. The one photo shows some of the specific cutting required. T-panels have been placed on each lane and tomorrow we will begin to align and start on the approach panels.

Once the repairs are completed, we will have announcements coming about YBC. We have some great ideas to finish the season and transition into the new year. Details to come soon.

Today’s update shows the substructure base has been installed, leveled and is ready for the LSL panels to be placed. Tomorrow is delivery day. LSL panels, overlay, fill sections and hardware arrive for 8am. Removed seating and tables to create the walkway. Will be a heavy carry into the centre day.

We have had some questions with our upcoming repairs. With the water damage that occurred in May, Rossmere Lanes will be replacing all 20 lanes of the approach surface. The new textured approach surface will provide the best possible slide conditions for our bowlers. Work on the project will begin soon and completion will be by mid August so we will be ready to welcome back all of our league bowlers to the new fall season. All of our leagues will be able to start the season on their regular time lines in early September. We are open everyday for our league bowlers to join us for some summer bowling fun. It is time! We are very excited to announce that we are ready to welcome everyone back. Repairs are complete, the centre is prepared and we are Back to Bowling starting on Wednesday June 10 at 1:00pm. New procedures are in place and will be posted at rossmerelanes.ca. It good to be, Back to Bowling!

With the cancellation of the 2020 YBC Nationals, we want to celebrate the achievements of these two bowlers. Both earned their way to the nationals with hard work and determination. It would have been the the first national appearance for both Jeriah and Alyssa. I know with the work that these two had already dedicated to the nationals, great results were surely in store.

Copied from an email distributed today. Dear YBC Families; Hello from Youth Bowl Canada. We hope everyone is keeping safe and healthy through this unprecedented year.... With regret, today we announce that the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 YBC Nationals. We know what this decision means to the athletes and fans, and we are truly sorry that our passionate and national community must suffer this loss. Sadly, things today are what they are. Of course our sport is not alone in losing a key event, though that is little consolation. The decision was not made lightly. As you know we have held on to hope for quite some time now. We’ve heard from many of you since the pandemic hit and we had no choice but to cancel the original May dates. Cancelling the July rescheduling was equally disappointing to all, but also well understood. While many of your emails expressed a strong desire to attend nationals at any cost, we also received many notes advising that families were uncomfortable with the thought of attending a crowded championship under today’s conditions, and were considering not attending. Thanks for all the input received from across Canada. In the end the decision comes down to the logistics of planning an event of this nature under never-before-seen conditions. Youth Bowl Canada does not have the confidence that we can keep our athletes and families safe, have the facilities and other services we need in place, run the event in compliance with laws in place at the time, and run an event that is up to the standards we expect for our community. On behalf of the Board of Directors, and provincial YBC Chairs from across Canada, I send our deepest regrets to the 205 athletes who have worked so hard throughout the year to become Provincial Champions and qualify for the YBC Nationals. We hope you remain very proud of your accomplishments this season and we congratulate you on your successful year. You are all Champions in our book. We are missing everyone so much and even though bowling centres were allowed to open on June 1st, we have had to delay our reopening. During the week after the May long weekend, a tenant located over the bowling centre had a sink drain line fail. The water leak would not have been noticed by them as the leak only entered the bowling centre. Short version of the story, we had some damage to the centre and repairs have been on going. The tentative plan is to be reopening at some point next week. This is a fluid situation (pun intended) and I will announce details as soon as I can. Additional upgrades are being planned this summer and will be completed prior to the start of the new season.

Bowling is back! Bowling centres in Manitoba are included in phase 2 of the reopening plan which starts on June 1. We have a lot of plans and considerations that have to be put in place but reopening as soon as possible is the goal.

YBC Nationals Update.

Effective immediately, Rossmere Lanes will be closed for precautionary reasons. The safety of our league members, public play guests and staff members is most important during this unprecedented time. We will re-evaluate this decision on April 1 and hopefully be able to plan our reopening at that time. Our hope is to continue our league season when it is safe to do so. For now, I want everyone to take this time to focus on your family and yourself during the days ahead. The health and safety of all of us, should be our first priority.

Hi everyone. All the recent news has created an unsettling situation for all of us. Do we pause the bowling season or do we go forward as scheduled? With all the uncertainty occurring in everyday life, we will continue the bowling season as scheduled. Having a regular activity available for our league members and public customers is intended to provide some normalcy during this unpredictable time. Each family can make the decision to attend or not. Rossmere Lanes has instal...led a comprehensive cleaning regiment to provide the safest possible environment for all of our guests and staff members. We are constantly monitoring the changing situation and recommendations from Government of Manitoba, Canada and the associated health departments. Power is back and the centre is open. Any of our YBC bowlers that want to bowl today can. Any bowlers that want to get their games today, can come at any time until 5pm today. I will run the 9am and 11:15am shifts as normal but if you can’t get here in time for your normal time, come in when you can.

Until further notice, Rossmere Lanes will be closed as the power in the area is out. Power went out at 9:30pm Thursday night and a restoration time from Manitoba Hydro is unknown. We will update our hours through this Facebook page as events occur. YBC bowling will have an announcement early tomorrow morning. Thanks and be safe out there.

Big congratulations to all the Rossmere Lanes YBC Bowlers that competed in the Provincial Singles Championships last Saturday. All the Rossmere bowlers played well and competed hard. I would like to congratulate the following award winners. Bantams Logan Newton Gold Medal Tanner Barbour Silver Medal... Alyssa Lightfoot Silver Medal Danika Huff POA 2nd Place Juniors Taron Barbour Silver Medal Seniors Coby Maxwell Gold Medal Brooke Goulet Gold Medal. Coby and Brooke both earned a $200 post secondary scholarship with their performance. Logan, Coby and Brooke have all qualified for Team Manitoba and will represent Manitoba at the National Youth Championships in Oshawa Ontario in May. So proud of all the Rossmere Bowlers.

Another National Championships for Rossmere bowlers. Logan and Evan strike gold on the bantam mixed doubles team. National bronze medal to Luke and Taron on the junior mixed doubles team. Congrats boys! Doubles and singles events start tomorrow. Let’s find some more!
