Nova Scotians who have uninsurable losses as a result of Hurricane Dorian can now apply for the disaster financial assistance program. The deadline to apply is ...Mar. 31. Hurricane Dorian caused widespread damage across Nova Scotia and its effects were felt from Yarmouth to Sydney. More than 400,000 households were without electrical power at one point. Damage is estimated to be about $11 million. Disaster financial assistance is available for residents, non-profits, and small businesses that have uninsurable losses and municipalities with uninsured damage.
