Today, in this moment, I am pregnant. And that is worth celebrating. Last night I tested positive, and no not the bad kind. The kind of positive that brings joy, happiness, excitement, happy tears. And I did feel all those things, but I also felt fear, nervousness, and if I’m being honest, a touch of embarrassment. I fear losing my child more than anything. I fear the toll it takes on me mentally, I fear the pain and trauma that it cause my body. I feel nervousness for wha...t I will hear at our doctors appointments, I feel nervousness because we had a very soundproof plan for our next pregnancy, and this was not the plan. I feel embarrassment because I’m 26 years old and this is my seventh pregnancy, I feel embarrassment because in my head people are saying really, she’s pregnant AGAIN?. I don’t know how far along I am, I don’t know what kind of news or information I will hear at my appointment, I don’t know if I will be able to carry baby to term. What I do know, is in this moment, right here and now, I am pregnant. With a baby who is loved beyond measure. And for as long as I am given, I will shower this baby with every ounce of love I can possibly give. All babies are miracles worth celebrating, even the ones who’s futures are still uncertain. So whatever it is you’re able to send, prayers, positive vibes, well wishes, please send them to my baby and I. Hello new friends It’s been a minute since I introduced myself so I thought I’d say hi and drop a few fun facts for you all to get to know me a little better! My name is Kelsey and I’m a teachers wife and mama to two supremely adorable kiddos, Emersyn and Hollis! My business is my passion and I have a slight addiction to beads A few fun facts about me 1. We have two pet bunnies! We got Rose and Nelly for our daughter for her 4th birthday but they are family pets. Th...ey roam our house and eat all our veggies and we just adore them. 2. We currently have five living generations on my moms side of the family. YEP! My little girl is so lucky to not only know, but have spent a ton of time with her great great grandma! (Ps go give my mama a follow, she’s a badass who makes some seriously incredible jewelry @stellandjagco) 3. If you couldn’t already tell by my posts, I have a mega passion for pregnancy loss awareness! Having lost four pregnancies myself, I’m dedicated to opening up the conversation and creating a safe space for women to speak on their experiences and feeling, and to having women see themselves and their journeys represented here on my page. 4. My dream job when I was little was to be a palaeontologist. I loved everything dinosaurs and was (obviously) obsessed with the land before time! My family took me on a trip to drumheller, and digging for dino bones was my all time favourite part! 5. My favourite person in the whole entire world (aside from my husband and kids) is my sister, who also happens to be a crochet protege. The girl picked up a hook and yarn one day for the first time and busted out a pair of baby booties. She’s unreal. Every year for Christmas, my husband and I buy each other a special ornament for our tree. I bought him this one in December of 2018. It was shortly after my ectopic pregnancy (our first loss) and I was so excited to tell him Emmy was going to be a big sister, I remember shopping for the ornament and giving it to him like it was yesterday. I never once thought there was a possibility that this pregnancy wouldn’t work out, yet 8 weeks later we were back in the hospital being ...told the baby was gone. Christmas was over by then and I had forgotten about the ornament. Next Christmas when it came out of the box, I couldn’t even look at it so I asked him to throw it away. He told me he would, but he knew it would be a special keepsake one day and decided to keep it for me. Now, four years after buying it, I happily hang this ornament on my tree and remember the pure joy this baby brought me in the short amount of time I knew them. I am forever grateful to my husband for hanging onto this precious memory for me. I am also grateful to finally be at a place where I can think back on my previous pregnancies and remember the joy and excitement and happiness. Don’t get me wrong, there are hard days. There are days when I wish had my four more littles gathered around our tree. There are days I cry because I miss them. There are days I cry for the pain I’ve been through. But right now more often than not, the happiness comes first. It takes time, patience, and being gentle with yourself. It takes a lot of tears before you can smile again, but I promise, you will smile again. I took the sourest lemon life had to offer and made something resembling lemonade I recently starting watching this is us from the beginning again. I heard this quote and it really hit home with me. All the messages thanking me for opening up the conversation. The women who haven’t spoken publicly about their loss but can still feel seen, heard and validated by the words I share. The money donated to help other loss families. The healing I feel when other women relate to ...my experience. The connections I’ve made in the loss community. That’s my lemonade right there. I wish my every ounce of my heart and soul that I didn’t know this pain. But if I can’t have my babies with me, I’m going to make the most out this journey I’ve been put on. Hi friends! What a busy last month and a half it’s been! I’ve been pulling all nighters prepping stock for both stores and all my markets, on top of custom orders as well! Unfortunately, it’s not sustainable while caring for my children and working my job job. SO! Going forward I have a whole bunch of stock on my website, at @thecraftycottagesk and @thehobnobber for you to shop through! ... For the time being, I will not be taking any more custom orders. I will reassess my work load at the end of November and hope to take customs through December! STARS & HEARTS For those of you who don’t know, my husband and I have experienced a great deal of loss while trying to expand our family. I found that speaking about my losses was very healing, but the more I spoke out the more I discovered just how many families suffered in private because the topic is considered so taboo. For that reason I feel it is important that I do my part in raising awareness and helping to eliminate the stigma surrounding loss. I have been very o...pen about my pregnancy losses and it is my hope that the more we talk about it, the more families will feel comfortable seeking support. This month I’ve created a limited edition collection in honour of the babies in the stars and in our hearts. And in honour of my own three beautiful angel babies, I will be donating three dollars from every sale of the stars and hearts collection to Empty Arms. Empty arms is an incredible organization that helps support families through loss at any stage and they rely entirely on donations and fundraising to keep their organization running. This year their biggest fundraising event had to be cancelled due to covid 19, and that is why I felt drawn to support them. These amazing people spend so much time supporting others through tragedy, let’s show them some love this month
