https://vimeo.com/51087896 Rotarians have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. Polio cases have decreased by over 99%, from an estimated 350 000 cases in 1988. There were just 37 cases in 2016. As of October 18th, only twelve (12) cases were reported this year; the lowest number in history. We are on the brink of eradicating polio, but much still has to be done. Bruce Aylward, assistant director-general for Polio, Emergencies and C...ountry Collaboration at the World Health Organization said that the finish line for polio eradication is in sight, but cautioned that "it is one thing to see the finish line; it is another to cross it." So, the only way we can know that Polio is really eradicated is if we record at least three years with no new cases. Let’s all make a difference on World Polio Day and help End Polio Now.
