We are still accepting cash donations as the need in our schools is greater than ever. COVID restrictions do not allow us to receive toys, or non-perishables. The $1000 winner of the first annual Running of the Balls was fellow club member, Greg Bullock. Congrats Greg :) In the spirit of Rotary, Greg decided to donate his winnings to one of the youth organizations that we support. In response to Greg’s generous donation, the club kicked in an additional $500. The $1500 total was donated to the Nanaimo Navy League of Canada, who support both the Navy League Cadets(ages 9-12), and the Sea Cadets(ages 12-18). ... We are very much looking forward to next year’s fundraiser.

We may have been physically restricted by the regulations around Covid-19 but we have more heart than ever and we know many of you do too. I have yet to experience a year where struggle has been so widespread, its been apparent on the faces of our neighbours, their children, families right here in our own community, just as it has been aparant world wide. I can say with certainty that we are foregoing a flashy Holiday Season this year for family time, baking, crafts, and ENDLESS Christmas Specials but that being said, many more families are struggling NOW than previous years and in foregoing the flash and appreciating the gifts that have been so easily overlooked in those Pandemic Free years, I believe this is a most powerful time to give a hand up to those who need it. And we will be offering a way for ALL OF YOU to give what you can those families designated, in need of some assistance, within the school district 68, covering public schools Ladysmith to Nanaimo. If you are looking for a way to spread some Christmas Cheer, My Rotary Club can assist you with that this year. We, as a Club, are driven by Youth Based Initiatives and during the Holiday Season the direct way to Christmas Spirit is through the children in our community, this is something I know for sure. If you are looking to offer a hand up, a smile, to share some Christmas Spirit, and make Christmas a happy one for others despite what has been going on around us this last year then I have the SOLUTION for you!
