The GPEI (Global Polio Eradication Initiative) has confirmed a case of wild polio in a paralyzed child in Malawi. The case is genetically linked to virus that c...irculated in Pakistan, and this detection does not affect World Health Organization African Region’s wild polio-free certification status. The GPEI is supporting health authorities in Malawi to conduct a thorough assessment of the situation and begin urgent immunization and surveillance activities to mitigate any risk of spread. In the more than three decades since Rotary launched its PolioPlus program and formed the GPEI, we have repeatedly stressed that polio anywhere is a threat to children everywhere. The case in Malawi imported from Pakistan underscores the importance of that statement. Learn more about how Rotary and its GPEI partners are responding: https://on.rotary.org/3oYwDjT

As one of the last two remaining wild polio-endemic countries, Pakistan has gone a full year without a report of a single child being paralyzed by the wild poli...ovirus, showing us that a polio-free world is within our grasp. We recognize the commitment of Rotary members in Pakistan and worldwide who helped make this progress possible, while remaining focused on the hard work ahead to deliver a polio-free future to all children, everywhere. Rotary members in Pakistan play a vital role in polio eradication by raising awareness and funds, advocating with government officials, and engaging community leaders. To date, Rotary has supported polio eradication activities in Pakistan with nearly US$347 million in grants to fund health workers, vaccines, immunization campaigns, and surveillance efforts, and established health camps and water filtration plants to bring broader health services to communities. While we reflect on our progress, we also recognize that this progress is fragile, as surveillance efforts in Pakistan have continued to detect the wild virus in environmental samples, and challenges to reaching all children with vaccines persist. Now is the time for Rotary members, government leaders, global partners, and workers at the frontline to redouble efforts and ensure no Pakistani child is paralyzed by polio ever again.
Sending out a big thank you to all the staff at both Huntsville Hospital and South Muskoka Hospital for all you! Thank you!

Rotary Club of Huntsville Hunters Bay Trail project. Phase 1 is now complete which consisted of sprucing up the Rotary Pavillion at Avery Beach. The pavilion was built by the Rotary Club of Huntsville 20 years ago to provide a place for people to picnic while enjoying the view of Hunters Bay. Watch for future enhancements to the trail as the Club continues with this project this fall and into next year.
We are pleased to welcome @bekkdallaire , our new Membership Coordinator! Rebecca is a nurse at the local hospital in Bracebridge. Rebecca joined Rotaract in 20...19 to meet like-minded people and give back to the area. During a volunteer trip to Kenya in 2012, she fell in love with the community and formed a non-profit organization. There isn't a lot of free time to be had between work and school, but when Rebecca relaxes you can find her chasing waterfalls or beautiful sunsets. Interested in joining Rotaract and helping give back to our community? Fantastic! Shoot us a DM #Muskoka #Community #RotaractMuskoka #GiveBack
n 1951, The Rotary Club of Ottawa established its annual "Adventure in Citizenship" Program in which some 220 senior high school students, from across Canada, spend four days in Ottawa experiencing tours, lectures, discussions and social events designed to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Canadian citizenship. Through meeting one another and having discussions among themselves, they learn to appreciate the diversity of Canada and the privileges and responsibilities of Canadian citizenship. The Huntsville Rotary Club selects a student each year between the ages of 15-16 to participate in this life changing experience. https://rotaryottawa.com//welcome-to-the-rotary-adventure-
