Tonight, at our casual physically distanced meeting we had a wonderfully inspiring speaker Meredith Copp. Meredith has been travelling to Estawini (Swaziland) in South Africa, for several years with one thing in mind, making the lives of school children in Estawini the best they can be. Meredith‘s passion is the Estawini School Project. This community is an impoverished one, there are many needs. Each time she travels there, Meredith meets with locals, and government official...s to decide on a project. Over the years she has brought food for the students, funded and restored electricity to the school, built a pipeline to provide running water, and even built proper toilet facilities for both staff and students, There is always work to be done, and Meredith is always working toward her next goal. If you’d like to hear Meredith speak, or lend a hand with fundraising, we would be happy to connect you. Thank you for inspiring us Meredith. See more
Please help us in our fight against Polio by purchasing Rotary Tulips for your garden! Rotarians around the world are determined to rid the earth of Polio, a devastating disease. With your purchase of these beautiful Triumph Tulips, Vesey’s will contribute to the Rotary Foundation - Polio Plus Eradication Program. A single bag of the Rotary Tulips will cover the cost of immunizing 8 children, protecting them from Polio for the rest of their lives. Over the last 30 years, Rotarians around the world have been raising hundreds of millions of dollars in an effort to eradicate Polio. Rotarians have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against in 122 countries. Only a few very small pockets of the disease remain.

Rotary Recognition of Local Greatness! We at the Rotary Club North Sydney want to extend our gratitude to a few, pretty outstanding businesses and local groups in our community. You all may have seen or witnessed the generosity of our hometown superstars amidst the Covid pandemic. Four of our local restaurants have gone above and beyond, to make sure our elderly, essential, and our community were well fed when the need was greatest. The Rotary Club of North Sydney would lik...e to extend our sincerest thanks to each of you, The Lobsterpound and Moore, The Commercial Street Deli, The Miner’s Daughter, and The BlackSpoon Bistro. Local food banks have also stepped up and continued to volunteer, to make sure meals were available to those most in need. To the North Sydney, and Sydney Mines food banks, and all of their invaluable team members, we thank you. Finally, Inspiring Communities is coordinating a new province wide program called Food for Thought: A Virtual School Meal Program". Northside Rising has been helping with on-the-ground support, and our local schools staff, and community members have stepped volunteer as delivery drivers. Good day to everyone! It is a new world out there, and we, as a Rotary club, have had to put a great deal on hold. As the world begins to reopen, we have decided that we will begin production of our 11th edition of our Northside Business Directory. We are going to be reaching out to our current contracted customers and restart the process. We understand how difficult this time has been, and realize how important Shopping Local will be to rebuilding our economy and our communi...ty. We feel it is important for us to continue forward with our directory for those businesses that have invested in us, and their businesses for the last 10 years. Our photographers will be making contact with you, with recommendations keeping this a safe process. Please express any concerns in a considerate manner. We want to advertise you, and for our community to bounce back strong, and healthy. We want to honour our contracts with you, so your businesses will prosper once again. We want you to be safe, healthy, and successful. See more
